Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist were almost the first Golden Bachelor Success story.

Gerry knelt and proposed to Teresa during the season 1 finale, which was filmed in Costa Rica and aired in November 2023.

“When I woke up this morning it was difficult. I had really mixed feelings and got to the point with the questions I was asking myself: How did I get here? And is she the right girl? “I’ve realized that you’re not the right person for me to live with,” Gerry said, pausing dramatically before falling to one knee. “You are the person I can’t live without. Theresa, I love you 1,000 percent. I will never stop believing that I choose you every day. Will you marry me?”

Gerry surprised Theresa with his on-camera fakeout, but there was an even bigger twist that fans didn’t see.

“I give a short speech, look at her and say, ‘But Theresa, you’re not the person I can live with,’ and take a long pause,” he recalled during an interview with People in November 2023. “And what I actually said was, ‘Theresa, you’re not that one.’ [right] “Person to me,” which is much harder.”

Theresa remembered “sneaking away” and thinking it was actually a breakup speech. After the snafu, Gerry found the right words and said: “The air cleared again.” [Theresa’s] Body.”

The two tied the knot in a televised wedding ceremony in January 2024, and although it seemed like Gerry and Theresa had found their happily ever after, they announced their divorce three months later.

September 2023

Although she failed to win the first impression, Theresa still left her impression on Gerry. She stepped out of the limo in her “birthday suit” since the first night of the season fell on her birthday. As they shared cupcakes together later in the episode, Theresa gave Gerry a kiss to remove some frosting from his mouth.

October 2023

When drama arose between Theresa and her fellow competitor Kathy Blacks, Gerry quickly came to the rescue. Not only did he confront Kathy about the tension, but Gerry had also comforted a crying Theresa in her room.

As the season progressed, their connection grew stronger and included declarations of love.

November 2023

During their overnight dates, Gerry revealed his strong feelings for Theresa before finally popping the question.

“Part of our conversation at Fantasy Suites [was] It was really the first time I seriously told her I loved her. It was almost an announcement of excitement,” he told People. “I said it three times in a row: ‘Theresa, I love you.’ I love you I love you.’ And I say, “And I’m going to ask you to marry me.” I don’t know if you’re going to say yes, but I’m going to ask you.” So when I got to the last episode and the engagement was supposed to happen, I was 100 percent confident that she was my person.”

December 2023

After the finale of , the couple made their Instagram debut The Golden Bachelor. “FINALLY!!! Theresa and I can be in public,” Gerry wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of him and Theresa smiling. “Not being able to post anything so far has been torture.”

At the end of the month, the two flew to New York City to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Times Square. “Another fantasy night in a long line of fantasy nights,” Gerry wrote via Instagram while toasting his next adventure with Theresa.

January 2024

Gerry and Theresa said “I do” in a televised wedding ceremony on January 4th.

“I learned that you are the woman I cannot live without. I have learned that you calm me with the touch of your hand. “I’ve learned that you make me laugh with the ease of a long-lost friend,” Gerry said to Theresa in his wedding vows. “I have learned that you are a strong and independent woman, and your strength brings me joy. I learned that you make me a better person, a better man, because of your sensitivity and gentle voice. Theresa, I now know that I have found a full partner who can share the experiences that life has to offer.”

Less than a week later, Gerry introduced his dog, Cody, to his wife after they traded Indiana for Theresa’s hometown in New Jersey.

April 2024

On April 1, reports surfaced that the two had yet to move in together after their wedding, with Gerry in Indiana and Theresa in New Jersey. Less than two weeks later, the couple announced their separation after “a series of heartfelt conversations.”

“I still love this person, there is no doubt in my mind. I cheer for her every day,” Gerry said during an emotional conversation Good morning America Interview.

Theresa noted that the two were grateful for the support fans showed them throughout their journey. “We received so much love and support from so many people who saw this Golden Bachelor, and I don’t think we can tell you how many people have told us that it has given them so much hope,” she added. “We don’t want that to change for anyone.”
