Gerry Turner‘s daughter Angie Turner speaks out in the midst of his divorce from Theresa Nist.
“It’s no surprise that the news that my father and Theresa have decided to separate has sparked a range of emotions and opinions,” Angie wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, April 24. “I love how invested people were in the show, what an experience it was. “You’re in!”
While acknowledging the positives The Golden BachelorAngie also addressed the backlash that arose following Gerry, 72, and Theresa’s divorce announcement. (In addition to Angie, Gerry had a daughter Jenny Young with deceased wife Tony.)
“What has been disheartening is the level of anger and cruelty our family has faced,” Angie wrote. “My father and Theresa are kind, good people who made this decision for them, no one else. I would like to ask everyone to remember that behind every story there are real people with real feelings.”
She continued, “To everyone who has chosen to show love and compassion to my father, Theresa and our family…I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Angie also gave a shout out to the podcast’s co-host Andy Levinewhich she said “really nailed that feeling” during an episode of him and Sharleen Joyntis “Dear Shandy” show. He subsequently asserted that he firmly believes there is a “real, strong romantic connection between Gerry and Theresa.”
“Even they were swept away like children. “If anything, I think they should be given credit for ending it so quickly,” said Andy, who married the woman Bachelor Season 18 alum in 2017 said during a clip of an episode shared via YouTube, which Angie linked in her post. “They could have milked that for a year. [Gerry] could have said, “Hey Theresa, let’s get some Instagram followers, get some fame, let’s get a red carpet.” No. To be fair to ourselves and the world, we will end this sooner than anyone thought. And I give them great credit for that.”
Alongside Angie’s Instagram message, she shared a quote that read, “Everything always works out in the end.”
Gerry and Theresa, 70, announced their decision to divorce on April 12, three months after exchanging vows during a televised wedding ceremony.
“Theresa and I have had a number of warm conversations,” Gerry continued Good morning America by the time. “We took a close look at our living situation and collectively came to the conclusion that it was time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
Hours later, Us weekly broke the news that Gerry had filed for dissolution of their marriage, citing the “irretrievable breakdown” of their marriage as the reason for the separation.
The couple met during The Golden Bachelor Season 1, which ended with Gerry popping the question to Theresa in the November 2023 finale.
