German TV presenter Stefan Raab gets back into the ring with the German boxing champion, who broke his nose in an earlier duel 23 years ago.
Raab, former talk show host and creator of international formats Beat the starswill face Regina Halmich in a cross-gender fight on German broadcaster RTL, which has secured live rights to the celebrity show’s rematch.
The event entitled “The Clark Final Fight” will take place on September 14th at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf. Inga Leschek, who was recently promoted to program director at RTL and RTL+, said it was a “spectacular moment in television history.”
Halmich broke Raab’s nose in their first meeting in 2001, before the professional boxer won again after a severe beating in a rematch in 2007. This final encounter will be Raab’s final appearance in the ring and possibly his final television appearance.
Halmich, who was one of the most successful female boxers of all time before retiring in 2007, said: “When Stefan has an idea, he is passionate about it. Then he is stubborn. When he tackles something, it’s a direct hit. He knows how good entertainment works. And the fact that RTL is showing the “event of the decade” is great.
“I’ll show that I can still give him a good beating… And it will hurt again.” I promise! Anyone who underestimates me has already lost. Raab will deliver a mega show according to all the rules of the art. And I’m going to really heat it up.”
Raab has had a long career in front of and behind the camera. One of the most influential media representatives in Germany, best known locally as the creator, presenter and producer of late-night talk shows TV total, Kill the Raab (the original version of Beat the stars) And Federal Vision Song Contest. He ran television producer Brainpool, now part of Banijay, but left the company in 2015 – the same year he ended his film career. He has since focused on producing behind the camera, with the fight considered his final appearance on the small screen.
