First Look at Maggie Q as Renée Ballard in the Crossover Episode “Bosch: Legacy”; Jet Wilkinson to Direct Ballard Spinoff Pilot

It is official. Amazon has confirmed the casting of Maggie Q as the star of the upcoming Renée Ballard Bosch spinoff series, which Deadline previously exclusively reported on. We also get our first look at Maggie Q and Titus Welliver in sneak peek photos from the Renée Ballard crossover episode Bosch: Legacy Third season finale. You can see above and below. Additionally, Jet Wilkinson was hired to direct the first two episodes of the series Untitled Renee Ballard Series for Prime Video. Wilkinson will also direct the season three finale Bosch: Legacya crossover that serves as the introduction of Maggie Q as Renée Ballard.

The Untitled Renée Ballard The series follows Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q), who is tasked with leading the LAPD’s new Cold Case Unit – a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest caseload in the city. Ballard approaches these cases frozen in time with empathy and determination. When her investigation uncovers a larger conspiracy, she relies on the help of her former ally Harry Bosch to overcome the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.

The Renée Ballard character, who does not appear in either film Bosch or Bosch: Legacybased on Det. Mitzi Roberts of the LAPD.

Wilkinson will serve as executive producer Ballard alongside Michael Connelly, Trish Hofmann, Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood. Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate are executive producers for Fabel Entertainment, with Jasmine Russ serving as co-executive producer. Co-executive producers also include Jamie Boscardin Martin and Trey Batchelor, while Theresa Snider is co-executive producer under Hieronymus Pictures.

Season 3 of Bosch: Legacy is based on Connelly’s best-selling novels desert star (2022) and The Black Ice (1993). The investigation into Kurt Dockweiler’s murder uncovers dangerous secrets and threatens to ruin the lives of our three main characters. The disappearance of a family haunts Harry Bosch and forces him to confront the limits of justice. In a hotly contested race, Honey “Money” Chandler is poised to become Los Angeles’ next district attorney. And Maddie Bosch becomes involved in a series of violent robberies.

Most recently, Wilkinson served as executive producer and director for the Apple TV+/Paramount TV Studios series Before starring Billy Crystal. Wilkinson also served as producer/director Percy Jackson and led the final of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Wilkinson directed the pilot episode of First kill, Produced by Emma Roberts and the Warrior nun Pilot, both for Netflix. Wilkinson will next direct.
