Ferrari announces new model with V12 drive, coming onto the market on May 3rd

  • Ferrari has announced a new model that will feature a great-sounding V12 powertrain.
  • The as-yet-unnamed Ferrari is expected to replace the 812 Superfast while retaining the front-engine layout.
  • The reveal was confirmed for May 3rd.

Ferrari will unveil a new supercar on May 3, 2024, equipped with its magnificent V12 engine. The model, which appeared in a series of teaser videos on social media, will most likely be the successor to the 812 Superfast and continue Maranello’s legacy of front-engined sports cars with 12-cylinder powerplants.

The teasers show very little of the upcoming Ferrari, which is internally codenamed F167. We can see part of the body – probably the rear deck – with the traditional Ferrari lettering and a glimpse of the shield that is usually displayed on the front fenders.

The other video focuses on the V12 powertrain. The company features the late Enzo Ferrari telling a story from the past: “One day Von Karajan said to me: When you listen to your twelve-cylinder, you create harmonies that no maestro can ever interpret.” Enzo is referring to Herbert von Karajan , an Austrian orchestra conductor who was also a Ferrari owner and a big fan of the V12 sound.

The teaser ends with a blurry clip of the V12-powered Ferrari accelerating from a standstill, giving us a glimpse of the audio experience.

Our spy photographers caught the Ferrari 812 successor several times during development tests in Italy. Early mules featured a modified and widened Ferrari Roma body, hiding the V12 internals. More recent sightings have seen prototypes wearing the production body, albeit with heavy camouflage.

Ferrari has not revealed any details about the latest version of the V12 engine. However, in the tradition of the Maranello, we expect it to be more powerful than the Ferrari 812 Competizione’s naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, which produces 818 hp (610 kW / 829 hp) and 695 Nm (513 lb-ft ) provided ) of the torque.

The new Ferrari’s competitors include the Aston Martin Vanquish, which will soon be launched with a twin-turbo V12 with 824 PS (614 kW / 835 PS) and 1,000 Nm (737.6 lb-ft) of torque.
