Farewell, Sister! Candace Parker Announces Her Retirement from the WNBA

WNBA star Candace Parker announced her resignation on Sunday (April 28).

According to the Associated Press, one of the greatest WNBA players of all time took to social media to announce the end of her career.

Candace Parker announces her retirement

The 38-year-old published a long Instagram post explaining her decision. She also thanked me for that “Who made this trip so special?”

She started her career by writing Jay-Z lyrics, “Dear Summer, I know you will miss me…”

The WNBA season runs from May to September. The next line in Parker’s caption simply read: “I’m retiring.”

Candace – nicknamed Ace – continued her farewell, “I promised that I would never cheat on fame and that I would leave it a better place than when I entered it. The competition always wants two more, but it’s time.”

The baller explained that she “had to give [her] Remember to accept it.”

Parker said she didn’t want a big goodbye.

“I always wanted to leave the square without a parade or a tour, just privately with those I love. What was supposed to be my last game, I left the pitch with my daughter.” She added, “I ended the journey the same way I started it, with her.”

The 6-foot-2 striker has had several surgeries throughout her career, which she says have impacted her game.
