Christian Falk claims Manchester United have had concrete talks with Jeremie Frimpong’s representatives
Last week, renowned Bild journalist Christian Falk claimed that Manchester United had contacted Frimpong’s representatives. The two parties reportedly held concrete talks about a move to Old Trafford in the summer. Bundesliga runner-up Bayern Munich is also interested in signing the 23-year-old from Leverkusen.
According to Metro. Frimpong has an affordable release clause of 34 million pounds ($42.54 million) included in his contract with Bayer Leverkusen. However, the clause only applies for a limited period of time. The parties must trigger it before the start of the 2024 European Championships on June 14 to sign the right-back for a bargain.

In his Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, Romano discussed Manchester United’s links with Frimpong. The Italian journalist acknowledged United’s desire to sign the Bundesliga champions but claimed there had been no significant development in this transfer saga.
Romano revealed:
“Some Manchester United fans have asked me about reports from some media outlets about United’s talks on Jeremie Frimpong intensifying, but I don’t really have an update on what I said previously.
“Man United have had Frimpong in their sights for a long time; He was already on the list before the 2022 World Cup. However, Man United have not yet decided how much they want to invest in each position. This will be part of the strategy in May and not now.”
Finally he added:
“Frimpong, as previously mentioned, has a release clause. Let’s see if United or another club decides to trigger them, but that will come later as I know nothing is happening at the moment.”
Frimpong has emerged as one of Europe’s most explosive full-backs this season. Under the tutelage of Xabi Alonso, the Netherlands international has honed his creative side and helped his team unlock the strongest defense. He has played 40 games for the club across all competitions this season, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists. His contract with the club expires in June 2028.
