Elizabeth Moss wrote June Osborne into television history The Handmaid’s Tale, but it was time for another adventure with Hulu. The 41-year-old Emmy winner took on the complicated role of Imogen Salter in the upcoming spy thriller series The veilIn an exclusive interview with, he described the MI6 agent as “10 different” people in one character Hollywood life.
While reflecting on her character’s story, Elisabeth noted that across all six episodes, viewers will watch the many sides of Imogen unfold.
“I’ve always wanted to do that [something in] the spy genre, but it was like that 100 times because Imogen is so many different people,” he said mad Men alum told Hollywood Life. “And the person you meet in the beginning is a different person from the person you meet ten minutes later to the different person you meet in the second episode, and so on and so forth. So for me it was like this opportunity to play 10 characters in one project.”
According to his summary, The veil follows “a potentially deadly game of truth and lies as two women travel from Istanbul to Paris and London, one of them possessing a secret that the other must reveal.”
Because the show is more international than before, Elisabeth admitted that there was “a lot of coordination” between the cast and crew. The actress also served as an executive producer alongside her EP colleagues Denise Di Noviwho called Elisabeth “a phenomenal producer.”
“I think that was so different The veil “was the international character,” he said Invisible man star noted. “As an executive producer working in so many different languages and between so many different countries, [people] It was a challenge to have different ways of working and bring all these people together and have a conversation. Everyone did so wonderfully.”
In front of the camera, Elisabeth took on even greater challenges – filming stunt scenes and perfecting her character’s British accent, which she said was the “biggest thing” she had to get to grips with.
“So I did dialect exercises for about six months and then started training a few months later,” the Golden Globe Award winner said. “I started getting into physical shape beforehand, but as part of our preparation I started doing stunt and fight training in Paris and then I continued with it in Turkey and continued through the whole process. We had to learn from three big fights. And so … [I] I just tried to train as much as I could.”
The first two episodes of The veil will premiere Friday, April 30 on FX and Hulu.
