“Double Up with the Derricos”: Karen Can’t Cope with the Chaos in the House

Double the lack of space!

In an exclusive clip from next week’s premiere episode Doubling with the DerricosKaren Derrico has had enough of the 17-person party in her house – and the broken appliances.

“I’m so overwhelmed by this house, we’re all crammed into it,” she says as she hangs wet laundry on the living room windows while a group of her children are nearby. “I don’t have any time alone, this dishwasher doesn’t work and now all of a sudden the dryer is broken and I keep wondering what else will go wrong.”

Deon Derrico comes home and realizes the chaos his wife is experiencing and tries to restore some order, but it’s not enough for his longtime love.

“What is all this?” he asks.

Karen tries to keep her wits about her and gives the only answer she has for her husband.

“The dryer broke down and I have nowhere else to hang the stuff,” she replies. “I’m so done with this. Nothing seems to be working in here and the walls are closing in. I know you’re looking for a house, so don’t say that. But it’s just that I’m tired.” ”

“Well, baby, just calm down,” Deon says. “It’s not the end of the world.”

And that’s not what Karen wants to hear.

In a side interview, Deon admits he understands his wife’s frustrations, but he says the only solution is patience while he works on the new house.

“I know Karen is very frustrated about this situation, but this house is a disaster zone,” he says. “She’s just not ready to see it yet. I just want her to hold on a little longer.”

But Karen has reached the end of her strength.

“I just feel like everything I’m asking for isn’t done now,” she tells Deon. “I’m tired of waiting.”

Deon tells her again that it’s not the end of the world and that things have fallen apart before. According to Karen, things are very different than before.

“Something has broken for me before, but the difference is that I didn’t have 14 children when it broke,” she exclaims. “I’m just done, Rico, I’m just over it. Homeschooling, things are falling apart here… I need a minute,” she says, grabbing her coat and heading outside.

In the fresh air, Karen reaffirms how much she and her family have outgrown their current living space.

“Between the dishwasher and the dryer and the kids running around, it just feels like the walls are closing in,” she says. “I definitely feel like I’m suffocating.”

This season it starts Doubling with the DerricosKaren and Deon balance moving into their run-down home while their daughter Darian, 17, works in New York City to pursue her dreams and their 12-year-old son Derrick gets ready to shave.

When it comes to multiples, 11-year-old twins Dallas and Denver begin their journey with puberty. 9-year-old quints Deonee, Daician, Daiten, Deniko and Dariz are close behind their big brothers in the “Girl Crazy” category.

Karen and Deon’s littlest ones, five-year-old twins Diez and Dior and three-year-old triplets Dawsyn, De’Aren and Dyver, are growing up right before their eyes.

In addition to all the things going on with their children, the family is also dealing with Deon’s mother and Gigi’s cancer.

The new season of Doubling with the Derricos Premieres Tuesday, May 14th at 8pm EST on TLC.
