Doja cat takes the topic of 2024 Met Gala literally.
After a weekend of barely-there fashion in New York City, the “Woman” singer returned to fashion’s biggest night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday to celebrate this year’s theme – “Sleeping Beauty: Fashion Resurgent” – a nod to fashion history.
Doja wore a soaking wet t-shirt dress from Vetements. The rapper took to the carpet – being careful not to show off too much – and covered her chest area as she climbed the green stairs inside the gala.
Paying homage to the theme of “The Garden of Time,” the 28-year-old told ET that she thought outside the box when choosing her flowers of choice.
“I know people would do flowers, so my favorite flower was the most commonly used flower and it’s made of cotton, and that’s why I wanted to do a white t-shirt because a white t-shirt is timeless and feels very poetic feels.” I knew it wouldn’t really fit in. I really don’t like fitting in.”
And yes, she was literally soaked.
“I’m actually wet right now,” she told ET. “I shouldn’t tell you the secret, but it’s hair gel. It’s all hair gel and it’s all over.”
She continued: “I’m playing a show tonight. I’ll probably sit wet in the chair all night.”
Before arriving at the venue, the GRAMMY-winning singer was spotted leaving her hotel with Vetements designer Guram Gvasalia. The “Say So” singer wore a white towel that ended just above her knees as she got into the car. To complete the look, the singer wore a matching towel on her head.
Taking the look to the next level, the “Paint The Town Red” rapper’s black mascara dripped down her face and onto her cleavage – held together by a diamond necklace.
Over the weekend, Doja and Gvasalia turned heads as they strolled through the city, adding their own touch to the sleeping beauties.
The “Get Into It” singer shared pictures on Instagram of her holding what appears to be a white sheet around her and wearing black Christian Louboutin heels. She drops part of the sheet, revealing a black thong.
In one photo, Doja Cat hugs Gvasalia and shows off a pear-shaped diamond necklace hanging from her bare back. The rapper and the designer also put on a bold show at the Monse Maison Pre-Met Cocktail Celebration on Sunday. Doja was also spotted in a two-piece suit – which was literally made out of plastic wrap.
Doja’s latest appearance will follow in 2023, where she paid homage to Karl Lagerfeld dressed as an enchanted cat on the red carpet. Her hooded Oscar de la Renta look featured a cat ears silhouette and feathered train, accented by cat eye, mouth and nose makeup. Doja turned her gaze up and meowed across the red carpet.
