Destiny’s Into the Light Update Offers Players Three New Maps

Bungie has released three new PvP Crucible maps for Destiny 2 as part of the Into the Light update, a free content offering that began in April. The maps can currently be played as part of a 3v3 playlist called New Territory.

In their developer livestream in April, Bungie mentioned that they had been working with fans and community members to consult on the map design. This approach seems to have worked, as initial reactions to the new cards have been positive.

β€œThe three new PvP maps are significantly more fun than most maps,” said one Reddit user. “The new PVP maps are the most fun I’ve had in Destiny 2 PVP in about two years.” said a poster on X.

Eventide Labs is the first new map set in an abandoned research outpost on Europa that was used by Eramis as a tank station. Conquer the Servitor area on this close-quarters focused map with tight spaces and few vantage points for ranged snipers.

Cirrus Plaza is a shopping and entertainment center on Neomuna in Neptune. Fight to take over the heavy ammo crate in the atrium and make sure your back is protected or risk danger from long lines of sight on this open, expansive map.

Dissonance is a terraformed pyramid ship that provides a unique setting for combat. Built for fierce head-to-head battles over heavy ammo, don’t get too distracted by the unsettling environment – the enemy could be around every corner.

The next major update for Destiny 2 is The Final Shape, a premium expansion that will arrive in June after several previous delays.

The full patch notes for Update 7.3.6.4 contain several optimizations and bug fixes.

CRUCIBLE

  • Maps – Three new maps have been added to the Crucible: Eventide Labs, Dissonance and Cirrus Plaza. These new maps will be available in a separate 3v3 playlist called New Territory.
  • Competitive – Special ammo tokens are now dropped exclusively from primary weapon finishers, regardless of whether the defeated player had special ammo.
  • Defeating a player who has special ammo by any means other than with a primary ammo weapon does not produce a special ammo token, although the defeated player still loses their special ammo.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent players from spawning in Burnout in the competitive playlist.

THE PANTHEON

  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to complete a full run when entering from a saved checkpoint.
  • Fixed an issue where the Adept weapon loot from the first Platinum completion did not have the correct perks available and selected.

RUSH

  • Fixed an issue where the Heat Wave delete modifier would end runs if the entire party died.

  • Fixed an issue where players were not teleported to the correct ADU location after the mechanic and boss phase.

  • Fixed an issue where killing the boss too quickly could prevent Onslaught from progressing further.
