Shahrukh Khan spoke about his role for the Gujarat Titans while also talking about how Ashish Nehra is acting as the head coach of the team. The GT batsman did not mention Shubman Gill’s role in the team.
The right-handed batsman plied his trade for the Punjab Kings in the last three seasons of the IPL. Last season, he played all 14 league games for the Punjab-based team and managed to score a modest 156 runs, although he scored those runs at a strike rate of more than 165. Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, PBKS decided to release the Tamil Nadu dough to release Rs 9 crores.
At the auction, Gujarat Titans went all out for him and signed him for Rs 7.4 million. However, he has not made any impact on the team in the ongoing IPL 2024 so far. While GT has played eight games so far, he has only managed to play three of them. In those three games he scored 14, 0 and 8.
The hard-hitting batsman will be hoping to return to form soon and contribute to GT, which is aiming for a string of wins to improve its playoff chances. And Shahrukh Khan is well aware of this.
Speaking before the game against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday (April 24), he stated that his role in the team is to make a difference and that he is keen to do so. He also touched on the challenges faced by someone like him who barely has time to settle down.
“Last game was the first time I was in the right XI, Rahul Tewatia was our hero, I hit a six against Rabada, I wanted to stay till the end but I am happy we won the game. T20 is everything.” When it comes to impact performances, there are players who take the team forward. My job is to create as much impact as possible for the team.
“I can’t prepare for every situation. With 3 you know you can go out to bat in the first 8-10 overs, but in my position you don’t know how many balls you’re going to get, it could just be 1 or 2, so you have to react to the situation , be calculating and help the team get over the finish line,” he added.

Shahrukh Khan was also asked about his time with the Gujarat Titans and playing under Ashish Nehra. In response, the 28-year-old said that he enjoyed his time with the Gujarat-based team before revealing how Nehra operates.
