David Beckham was worried about his fellow athlete Tom Brady after Brady’s recent Netflix roast that made headlines.
The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady Live Comedy Special streamed on Sunday and featured a number of comedians and celebrities brutalizing the retired NFL star.
During a Wednesday appearance on Jimmy Kimmel LiveFormer soccer star Beckham shared that he watched the live event but “under no circumstances” would he subject himself to such scrutiny.
“No, the whole concept is pretty funny. “It was very funny,” Beckham admitted.
The British soccer star admitted that after watching the roast, he personally reached out to Brady to inquire about the Super Bowl winner.
“I know Tom pretty well and I have to admit that I sent him a message just to check if he was OK,” Beckham shared. “He’s more than OK, but yeah, it was hard to watch.”
The event, hosted by Kevin Hart, was attended by Jeff Ross, Nikki Glaser, Sam Jay, Rob Gronkowski, Kim Kardashian and more.
As husband of Victoria BeckhamDavid, a former Spice Girl, also commented on Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce’s rise in fame due to his relationship with Taylor Swift.
“I think he can handle it,” David said. “We know Taylor can definitely handle this.”
David also spoke about his hit Netflix documentary: Beckham, and admitted that he didn’t like the rough version when he first saw it. So he decided to share it with his wife of almost 25 years.
“We had reached the end. We looked at each other. “We were so emotional,” David revealed. “We laughed, we cried, we were tired. Because we have done so much in these 27 years. And that was really the moment I fell in love with the documentary because I knew she loved it and that meant more to me.
David is not afraid to share his love for his wife.
“Yes, she is beautiful. Yes, she was sexy. Yes, I liked her, but honestly I like a strong woman and I like the fact that she works hard,” David said previously his famous wife on SiriusXM This life of mine with James Corden Podcast. “I like the fact that she is a great mother. I like the fact that sometimes, but most of the time, she takes care of me, and you know, we’ve created this life with four amazing kids who are the most important thing in our lives.”
