CSK vs SRH: Daniel Vettori Openly Blames These Players for RCB Loss but Doesn’t Say Expectations

Sunrisers Hyderabad Head coach Daniel Vettori has stated that his team cannot win every single game after losing to RCB in match number 1 last night. 41 from IPL 2024.

The Orange Army had welcomed Faf du Plessis. Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium for the second leg of the South Indian derby. In their previous encounter, Daniel Vettori’s men had posted their highest ever total in the Indian Premier League with 287 runs en route to Travis Head’s century.

However, that wasn’t the case last night for the Sunrisers, who were playing their first home game since April 5 when they defeated CSK. After winning the toss, du Plessis prevented the hosts’ dangerous batting line-up from taking any advantage in the first innings.

Bengaluru started quite well as they had a run rate of almost 10 in the powerplay with du Plessis and Will Jacks leaving the crease for 25 and 6 in those overs. Then Virat Kohli teamed up with No. 4 batsman Rajat Patidar, who showed the form he had shown in RCB’s previous game against Kolkata.

Patidar once again showcased his brilliance as he batted at a strike rate of 250, including two fours and five sixes. He had also sent SRH leg-spinner Mayank Markande to the stands four times in a row in one of the latter overs. Then Cameron Gree, Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh scored in double figures and helped RCB reach 207 as the target.

Daniel Vettori says SRH’s middle order let them down

In response, SRH got off to a poor start as opener Travis Head was dropped in the 3rd ball of the 1st over. Abhishek Sharma hit 31 off 13 but he too left the crease in the 4th over. Then the middle order eliminated Aiden Markram, Nitish Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen with 7, 13 and 7, and that was what Daniel Vettori was complaining about.

In the lower order, Shahbaz Ahmed remained not out with 40 off 37 while Abdul Samad, Pat Cumminns, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Jaydev Unadkat scored 10, 31, 13 and 8 respectively. After bowling all 20 overs, RCB won the tie and got their revenge against SRH with a 35-run win.

After the game, Daniel Vettori wasn’t very critical of the team’s performance, but felt that the middle order had become a bit sloppy. Vettori also said that the management cannot expect the SRH team to win every game, especially after some one-sided wins in the previous games.

“We also know that it was decided by the openers and today they had a rest day and this is cricket and you have rest days. We don’t expect them to play 14 games and unfortunately we didn’t get the support during the season. “It’s a tough defeat in the middle phase but we understand that any team can beat any team in the IPL. There are no easy games at all. – Daniel Vettori told reporters last night.

Another South Indian derby awaits SRH

After losing to RCB by 35 runs, Daniel Vettori’s SRH will travel to MA Chidambaram Stadium for another South Indian derby. Pat Cummins and Co. will face CSK in a return match after beating the Yellow Army by 6 wickets in their previous encounter.
