Crystal Palace vs Man Utd: Preview, Predictions and Lineups

Manchester United are aiming for just their second win in seven Premier League games when they visit Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

The Red Devils now know that qualifying for the Champions League is mathematically impossible with England failing to secure a fifth European spot for next season’s premier competition, but Erik ten Hag’s side are still in a promising position to qualify for the Europe League to qualify next season. However, after a 1-1 draw against Burnley in their last game, there can’t be too much confidence.

Crystal Palace are not the easiest opponents for Man Utd as they aim to get back on track, with Oliver Glasner having made some significant improvements since taking over from Roy Hodgson. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last four games, including wins over Liverpool, West Ham United and Newcastle.

These two teams have met twice this season, both at Old Trafford. The first time, Man Utd won the Carabao Cup 3-0 at the end of September, but the London side got their revenge four days later with a 1-0 win in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace have been handed a double injury layoff ahead of their visit to Man Utd, with Glasner confirming that both Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze should be fit and available for Monday’s game. The former has been missing since the beginning of February, the latter was missing from the last 1-1 draw against Fulham.

However, the Eagles are still missing numerous players, including long-time absentee Cheick Doucour. Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding and Matheus Franca are all expected to miss out at Selhurst Park, while Jefferson Lerma is at serious risk of injury.

Predicted Crystal Palace Lineup (5-2-3):Henderson; Munoz, Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Wharton, Hughes; Olise, Mateta, Eze.

Marcus Rashford

Man Utd’s bad luck with injuries shows no sign of abating ahead of the final games of the season, with the Red Devils missing many influential stars.

The defense is the most affected by fitness issues, with Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Willy Kambwala all currently out. Jonny Evans is also doubtful for the trip to London but could still be available for Ten Hag once he returns to training.

Marcus Rashford is significantly missing from the forward line, while Anthony Martial is still building up his fitness after returning to training last week. Scott McTominay could feature despite missing training, while captain Bruno Fernandes may be able to play at Selhurst Park despite an unspecified fitness problem, according to Ten Hag.

Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1): Onana; Dalot, Evans, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka; Casemiro, Mainoo; Antony, Fernandes, Grenache; Hojlund.

Crystal Palace have been in excellent form of late, even picking up a win at Anfield, with Glasner transforming the Eagles since his arrival. In their current mood, a visit from an injury-plagued Man Utd team whose performance isn’t up to snuff won’t worry them too much.

Ten Hag’s fitness problems mean Man Utd are struggling at Selhurst Park and their recent home draw against relegation-threatened Burnley may have dented their confidence even further. Things could get even worse in the capital on Monday night.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Man Utd
