KBB Review Highlights

The Kia Forte replaces the Kia Spectra in 2010 and is the Korean automaker’s answer to the small car question. Known for its modern good looks, sporty design and easy-to-access features, the Kia Forte offers buyers a well-equipped option at an excellent price. Completely redesigned in 2019, the 2021 model carries over the updates from this refresh. In 2020, the Forte added GT and GT-Line trim levels to the roster to give drivers the driving fun and increased performance they crave.

With a spacious interior and a nice mix of convenience and safety features, the 2021 Kia Forte is available in five trim levels and two engine options. Focused more on efficiency than performance, the FE, LXS, GT Line and EX use a 2.0-liter inline-four that puts out 147 horsepower, in the bottom third of the class. The Forte GT features a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 201 horsepower, comparable to the class-leading Honda Civic Si’s 205 horsepower. All models have front-wheel drive.

For the 2021 model year, more safety and comfort options from previous generations are standard in all equipment lines. Easy access to infotainment and smartphone integration via the 8-inch touchscreen are now standard across the range. Soft-touch fabrics, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and an updated speaker sound system are also standard. The EX trim adds a power moonroof, wireless charging, and an excellent Harman Kardon sound system. The GT trim has power driver seats, rear parking sensors, pedestrian detection and forward collision avoidance. Vegan leather is also an option in all equipment lines.

The 2021 Kia Forte offers generous value and a comfortable ride that’s well-equipped for the price.
