Cheryl Burke takes control of planning her own birthday party after her original celebration plans fall through.
“I was supposed to go to Vegas for my 40th birthday but plans changed so I’m literally channeling [party planner] Mindy Weiss and I’m going to put together as much of it myself as I can,” Burke, who turned 40 on Thursday, May 3, said during a phone conversation in a video posted via TikTok on Sunday, May 5.

“I have to go over my budget though… but I found a yacht and of course it’s the most expensive one, but we’re doing that because you only turn 40 once,” she continued, before opening a package of supplies for the party, included Photo Booth Props
“Best birthday ever, thanks to me. I do it all alone. You’d think I’d have friends who would fucking care,” Burke joked, adding, “I don’t. They only care about having free food, [a] Chef, a yacht and free alcohol because they’re all drunk.” (Burke has been sober since 2018.)

Burke’s 40th birthday party is her and her ex-husband’s second Matthew Lawrence Splits. The couple married in 2019 but separated in January 2022 and finalized their divorce in September. Lawrence, 44, has since moved on with the TLC singer chili.

She continued: “That’s right! …Normally I would have jumped right into another relationship, found a bounce or two, and went out with my friends seven nights a week while numbing myself through the use and abuse of alcohol. This time, however, I’m choosing a different path. A clearer path, a more conscious path. Even though I was scary and uncomfortable at times, I grew into a woman I never thought could exist within me.”
