The producers of Gen V say they will not recast Chance Perdomo’s role after the actor’s tragic death in March.
On Sunday, producers of the hit Prime Video series announced that following a production backlog following Perdomo’s fatal motorcycle accident, they have decided to restructure the upcoming season rather than recast his role. In Gen V – which is a spin-off of The young — The spooky adventures of Sabrina The actor portrayed Andre Anderson, a Godolkin University student with the ability to manipulate magnetic forces.
“As we continue to cope with the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone is involved Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory,” producers said in a statement posted on the show’s Instagram Account. “We will not fill the role because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have taken the time and space to reimagine our storylines for Season 2 as we begin production in May.”
They added: “We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”
Perdomo was just 27 years old at the time of his death. In a statement in March, a representative for the actor confirmed his death, while an Amazon spokesperson expressed condolences to Perdomo’s family.
“All who knew him felt his passion for the arts and his insatiable hunger for life, and his warmth will continue in those he loved most. “We ask that the family’s desire for privacy be respected as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother,” the actor’s rep said at the time.
“The whole Gen V “The family is devastated by the sudden death of Chance Perdomo,” a spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television told ET. “Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television extend our heartfelt thoughts and support to Chance’s family and everyone who loved him during this difficult time.”
Days after Perdomo’s death, his Chilling adventures of Sabrina Co-star Kiernan Shipka – who played his cousin in the Netflix series – posted a heartbreaking tribute to her late friend on Instagram. The 24-year-old actress shared several photos from her filming.
“Oh man, that hurts. He was a unique soul. Simply the most fiery, creative, loving, connected and caring force imaginable,” she wrote in her caption. “Just as playful as friendly. As loving as it is hilarious. He never failed to make me laugh and he never failed to keep me on my toes (or off when he gave me a piggyback ride to the trailer he gave me). have done it often. Thanks Chance.)
She added: “His humanity was a generous gift to me and so many people. It’s really hard to imagine this world without him. I loved him with all my heart. I always will.”
Jaz Sinclair – who starred alongside Perdomo in both films The spooky adventures of Sabrina And Gen V – reacted to her co-star’s death when she posted a broken heart emoji on her Instagram Story on April 2 J-14.
In the meantime, Patrick Schwarzeneggerwho played the best friend in Perdomo’s character Gen V, went to X (formerly Twitter).) to commemorate him after his death.
“It hurts a lot. What a young talented actor and a great friend – gone too soon. It was a pleasure to work with him in GenV. RIP Chance ❤️,” he wrote.
