The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is known to often judge heavily on explicit intimate scenes, even after passing films with an ‘A’ certificate. CBFC cuts male nude scenes in ‘Challengers’ but in a RARE case keeps Zendaya’s explicit see-through bra sex scene
The movie stars Zendayafrom Spider-Man, Dune And euphoria Celebrity and is also one of the producers of the film, which also stars Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist. The film caught the attention of viewers around the world last year when the first teaser was released, showing Zendaya having a threesome with Josh and Mike.
A source told Bollywood Hungama“The CBFC’s audit committee has not addressed this much-discussed scene. Additionally, another intimate scene between Zendaya and a male actor is much more explicit. It even shows Zendaya wearing a see-through bra. There were fears that what happened during that time would happen again Oppenheimer (2023), when Florence Pugh’s nude scene was edited with a CGI-created black dress. Luckily, nothing of the sort needed to be done for this film. The scene was over; Not a single second was cut.”
But the CBFC has called for some changes. The source continued: “There is a scene where a male actor shows his bare buttocks. The CBFC refused to pass through the crime scene. So the studio enlarged the male actor to hide his bare bottom. A similar change was made for another scene in which a character walks around naked in the locker room while two characters shower in the background.”
Apart from these changes, the CBFC’s strikeout list suggests that an offensive word has been muted while the cigarette brand should be obscured. Once these changes have been made, challenger was passed with an A certificate. The certificate was handed over on April 25th, just one day before the film’s release.
