Carnie Wilson lost 40 pounds to feel better and live a healthier life, and she did it without Ozempic.
Not that it was never an option. Wilson, 55, says her doctor recommended Ozempic to help her lose weight, but “it just wasn’t for me.”
“I was too afraid of side effects,” she said exclusively Us weekly while we talk about her new cooking show, Sounds delicious with Carnie Wilson. “And I think it’s great. It’s worked for a lot of people and I just don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t think we know enough about it for this purpose.”
Instead, Wilson eliminated gluten and sugar from her diet and relied on her own discipline to achieve a healthier diet.
“I just listened to a voice inside me that said, ‘Gluten and sugar are not your friends,'” she explained. “You have to stop eating this. And that is the voice I listened to. And it works.”
She’s doing better too. Recalling how she felt before the weight loss, Wilson said she “just had a big stomach ache and just felt bloated and gross and all inflamed.”
Carnie, daughter of Beach Boys co-founder Brian WilsonShe hopes that her diet change and weight loss will serve as an example for her two children, Lola (18) and Luci (14).
“It makes you a better person all around,” she said. “Probably a better cook, a better mother and all those things.”
Lola and Luci are sisters, but Carnie explains that there are many physical and social differences between them. At a time when young women are pressured to look or act a certain way, Carnie hopes to instill confidence in her children – and that starts at home.
“I always say don’t compare yourself to other people because you are your own special person and everyone is beautiful,” she said. “Find something you like about yourself. … Confidence comes from believing in yourself and giving to other people.”
Carnie isn’t the only celebrity avoiding Ozempic. Chelsea handlers After learning more about the drug, she stopped taking it, calling it “too irresponsible.” Scheana Shay, Kate Winslet And Kyle Richards have also spoken out against it.
Tracy Morgan And Amy SchumerIn the meantime, both have admitted to trying Ozempic, and Kelly Osbourne spoke out in favor of the drug, calling it “amazing.”
