  • Cadillac has announced powertrain and trim details for the Chinese-spec Optiq.
  • The model is offered with two different batteries, offering a range of up to 600 kilometers.
  • The entry-level crossover is well equipped with heated leather seats and a 33-inch curved display.

After a preview last year, Cadillac has unveiled the Optiq in China. It will sit below the Lyriq and become the brand’s entry-level electric crossover.

While the design isn’t much of a surprise at this point, the Optiq features a black crystal grille with 114 integrated lights. These work together with the indicators and headlights to display a choreographed light sequence like its big brother.

Aside from the lights, the crossover is well-equipped with rain-sensing wipers, flush-mounted door handles and a panoramic glass roof. There is also an electric tailgate, while the top variant has a black roof.

In terms of size, the model is 4,822 mm long, 1,912 mm wide and 1,644 mm high with a wheelbase of 2,954 mm. This means the model is almost 7 inches (178 mm) shorter than the Lyriq and has 5.5 inches (140 mm) less space between the wheels.

The interior follows in the footsteps of its larger counterpart and features a 33-inch curved display. Buyers will also find a heated leather steering wheel and heated and ventilated leather front seats. Other highlights include dual-zone automatic climate control, a 126-color ambient lighting system and an AKG audio system. There is also a wireless smartphone charger and a digital rearview mirror.

Two different powertrains are available and the standard range variant has a 68.4 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 333 miles (536 km) on the CLTC cycle. The battery powers a front motor that produces 241 hp (180 kW / 245 PS) and 243 lb-ft (330 Nm) of torque. As a result, the crossover accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 km/h.

Chinese consumers can also opt for a long-range variant, which has a larger 79.7 kWh battery and offers a range of 373 miles (600 km). In addition to a larger battery, this variant has a dual-motor all-wheel drive with an output of 283 hp (211 kW / 287 hp) and a torque of 343 lb-ft (465 Nm). Thanks to the additional power and traction, the sprint to 100 km/h takes less than six seconds.

As for charging, Cadillac says a fast charger can take the battery from 20% to 80% in just 33 minutes. At home, a 7.2kW charger can fully charge the Standard Range variant in 10.8 hours, while the Long Range variant takes 12.8 hours.

Buyers will find a variety of standard driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane centering and forward collision warning. There are also automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition and OnStar. The variant with the highest range goes even further, as it has Super Cruise and a head-up display.

Prices start at ¥239,700 ($33,110) and rise to ¥269,700 ($37,254) for the long-range variant.
