Britney Spears and Sam Asghari’s divorce is now final.
In August 2023, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari separated. Although they have never publicly explained the split in detail, there are rumors that the reasons could be anything from cheating allegations to simply too much time apart.
But after their split, both Britney and Sam refused to vilify each other, despite having ample opportunity to do so.
Now the months-long and often painful divorce process is over. And it could have been So much more chaotic.
After more than eight months, Britney Spears has finalized her divorce from Sam Asghari
TMZ reports that Britney and Sam have finalized their divorce agreement following their separation in August 2023.
According to the report, the two filed a preliminary judgment along with Britney’s response to Sam’s initial divorce filing.
Technically there is one final step: TMZ Notes – Awaiting approval from judge. However, since no obstacles are expected, the marriage will soon be a thing of history.
As we reported in June 2022, Britney and Sam signed a prenuptial agreement. Prenuptial agreements are often a good idea in marriages, but (depending on local marriage laws) can be vital if one party is significantly wealthier than the other.
In this case, Sam Asghari is essentially left blank due to the post-divorce marriage.
Britney paid a (very expensive) rent for Sam’s new apartment after the breakup. And she reportedly planned to break up by handing him a six-figure check – although it’s unclear if that happened. Divorce plans can change dramatically within eight months.
Surprisingly, Britney and Sam’s divorce didn’t end up as messy as some thought (or hoped)
As many may recall, shortly after the separation date, there were reports that Sam Asghari was contesting the prenuptial agreement. That doesn’t seem to have happened.
There was also a report that Sam believed Britney had been unfaithful. In an alarming claim, Britney was physically abusive to him during their marriage.
There appears to have been no actual mention of this from the actual divorce itself. In fact, Sam vocally defended Britney following their breakup. And Britney criticized other exes in her best-selling memoir, but in no way condemned Sam.
Some people were clearly hoping this would be a big, ugly mess. A few specific tabloids that capitalized on the hysteria over Britney’s behavior in the 2000s appeared eager for a long, bitter divorce.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case. And while it’s always possible that Britney and Sam’s divorce had a dark underside that didn’t come to light in the paperwork, sometimes people just fall apart.
They had happy years together. Their marriage didn’t last. And now it’s over. This is how a divorce works.
