This is true, Nicola Coughlan and co-star Luke Newton hung around naked together between filming scenes Bridgerton.
“Yeah, it’s really funny,” Coughlan, 37, said in an interview with Teen Vogue published on Wednesday, April 24. “That’s correct. It’s proof that we just reached a point where we were so comfortable with each other. We had just finished the big sex scene, the most intense and complicated…. and we just felt relieved.”
While it may have been a surprising decision to stay put, Coughlan noted that the two weren’t wearing “real clothes” and if they had stood up between scenes, they would have shown everything to the crew.
Coughlan previously gushed that Newton, 31, made her feel “really cared for” during her intimate scenes.
“We really had each other’s backs and were also able to just laugh about it, like we were just laying under a blanket and saying, ‘I should relax now,'” Coughlan told AP Entertainment in a February interview shared via TikTok Newton added: “Yeah, in the middle of the day you just relax and think, ‘I don’t actually care if I’m naked.'”
Coughlan recalled: “They asked, ‘Do you want to get up?’ We said, ‘No, no, I’m fine.'” I’m fine.'”
Coughlan also noted that these scenes were “a really important part of the story.” She said: “These scenes in this show are important, they are an important part of the narrative, they are not thrown away. So they’re not just short scenes, they’re important.”
Season 3 of Bridgerton is said to revolve around Penelope Featherington (Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Newton). Why the show chose to focus on Penelope and Colin as main characters in Season 3, says showrunner Jess Brownell said she felt like it was her “time” after Season 1 followed Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) and season 2 followed Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
“We have been watching these two actors on our screens since the first season and have already invested a little in them. We know who they are as people,” she said diversity in May 2022. “I feel like, especially in the final season, there are these moments of tension between them where it’s like Colin almost realizes that Penelope has feelings for him but doesn’t quite manage it .” Instead of neglecting this dynamic, we wanted to push it forward in their season. It really felt like the perfect moment to tee off.”
The first half of Bridgerton Season three premieres on Netflix on Thursday, May 16th, with the remaining episodes dropping on Thursday, June 13th.
