Boby Chemmanur is a Kerala-based businessman who is known online for his unique marketing style. For this reason, people often notice him. He often uses expensive cars as a marketing tool for his new products. Towards the end of 2023, Boby brought his Ford F650 pickup truck to India to promote his newly acquired 1,000-acre tea plantation in Wayanad. Since then the truck has been in Kerala. We came across several videos and short films of the F650, and we have a detailed walkaround video of it here.
The video was shared by Najeeb Rahman on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger first talks about the exterior of the truck. From the videos and images we have seen in the past, it is clear that the F650 is unlike any other vehicle sold in the Indian market. In terms of dimensions, it is a real American pickup.
The hood of the F650 is higher than the shoulder height of the YouTuber seen here. The front grille features the Ford logo and there are Raptor-like halogen headlights on either side of the grille. The owner has installed several additional headlights to ensure that other road users can distinguish this vehicle from others.
The front bumper is made entirely of metal and is chrome-plated. This crew cab pickup truck comes factory equipped with a strip chassis, meaning the truck is not equipped with the rear cargo bed. Since it is a heavy-duty truck, buyers of this truck often receive customization according to their wishes. This truck has two fuel tanks, one on the left and one on the right.
The combined fuel capacity of this truck is around 430 liters. The driver can switch between fuel tanks at the touch of a button in the cab. To get into the cabin, there is a retractable step that extends when the doors are opened. The fuel tank is designed to double as an entry step into the cabin.
The interior of the Ford F650 is spacious and not something we would call premium. It offers enough space for all occupants and is equipped with many storage compartments.
This particular truck is equipped with an air horn, which is illegal in India. However, Boby Chemmanur doesn’t use it. There is a normal horn for use in India. There are buttons to control the auxiliary lights and also to lower the bed of the truck.
The vlogger even talks to Boby Chemmanur in this video. He mentioned that it would cost him around 2 crores if he planned to import this car to India. This truck is currently in India for a short period of time and he will bring it back to Dubai and use it there. The F650 is powered by a 6.7-liter V8 engine that produces 330 hp and 1,015 Nm of maximum torque.
We’ve seen pictures and videos comparing the size of the F650 to that of the Toyota Hilux pickup. This actually made the Hilux look like a toy. The F650 got stuck once and was recovered by a Mahindra Thar.
