Bella Hadid has no regrets about putting modeling on hold.
In 2022, at the apparent peak of her career – which included walking the runways of Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Coperni and appearing in campaigns for Versace, Burberry and Charlotte Tilbury – Hadid, now 27, met the Decision to prioritize both and physical health. (Hadid has long been open about her struggles with depression and her ongoing battle with Lyme disease.)
“After 10 years of modeling, I realized that I was putting so much energy and love and effort into something that…wasn’t necessarily giving it back to me,” Hadid shared Lure in a profile published on Tuesday, April 30.
Although Hadid hasn’t completely closed the door on fashion, her life has changed drastically. She found love with a businessman Adam Banuelos, moved to Texas and founded a fragrance brand, Ôrəbella. Click Thompson/Getty Images for Teton Ridge“I love being able to do my own hair and makeup, being happy with how I look, and getting ready with my friends here in Texas,” Hadid said Lure. “We have the best time and I never feel like I have to do too much. For the first time I don’t put on a fake face. If I’m not feeling well, I won’t go. When I’m not feeling well, I take time for myself. … If someone sees me in pictures now and says, ‘I look happy,’ then I really am.”
Her new life has allowed her to flock to Ôrəbella, which is a play on her name and means “iron ore” in Arabic.
“I didn’t want to just release something that was a different product or a different perfume,” she told the publication. “It was something I was already very passionate about and I didn’t want to keep it just for myself.”
