Bangladesh Stallions Beat India by Seven Wickets to Create History

The Indian Stallions recorded their first defeat in the Asia Cup after being beaten by Bangladesh Women by seven wickets.

After posting a competitive total of 141, the Indian women were normal with the ball. They failed to bag the crucial wickets needed in the middle overs. However, this wasn’t quite possible as Bangladesh reached the winning target with a few deliveries to spare. Rumana Ahmed was named player of the match for her brilliant all-round performance.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bat. India lost Smriti Mandhana in the 2ndnd over when Salma Khatun hit her plumb forward with a brilliant throw. Pooja Vastrakar and Harmanpretty Kaur batted sensibly in the middle overs. However, Vastrakar was released in the 9th yearTh above. On the other hand, Harmanpreet still had great success.

Harmanpreet in particular once again showed a fluent touch, scoring a defiant 42 from 37 deliveries including five Four. It was tight bowling for Bangladesh as the Indian Colts were unable to step on the accelerator. Deepti Sharma also batted quite sensibly and ended up scoring an impressive 32 off 28 deliveries. Rumana Ahmed was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers, bagging three wickets for just 21 runs. Harman was the top scorer for India, followed by Deepti Sharma.

Bangladesh openers Shamima Sultana and Ayasha Rahman started well and scored some lovely shots. After a 29-run partnership, Ayasha was dismissed by Rajeshwari Gaekwad.

Sultana, on the other hand, made a very good impression. She raced away on 33 off 23 deliveries including Seven Four. It was Pooja Vastrakar who delivered the 2nd Breakthrough for Pakistan.

Nigar Sultana also fell in quick succession as Bangladesh were reduced to 49/3. From then on, it was Fargana Hoque and Rumana Ahmed who formed a brilliant, winning partnership.
