Ava Philippe uses her platform to advocate for body positivity. The 24 year old daughter of Reese Witherspoon And Ryan Phillippe took to TikTok over the weekend to speak out about two contradictory and equally offensive comments she recently received about her body shape.
Ava stands in front of a bathroom mirror wearing an oversized Blondie t-shirt. She reaches for a tube of red lipstick as text appears on the screen. The video is set to a cover of the 90s hit “No Doubt.”Just a girl.”
“NBD but I just reached a major milestone as a woman online,” the message reads reads. “I saw two different strangers commenting on my body. The first one said I should take Oz*mpic because I was too fat… The second one accused me of starving myself because I was too skinny… My weight wasn’t right. Change in time between her comments (and she wouldn’t do anything if it were like that!)”
Then Ava smears lipstick on her cheek and rolls her eyes. “This is such nonsense.”
The model leaves the frame while text continues to play over the video.
“No one deserves to be torn apart because of their appearance,” it says. “You don’t always know what someone has been through or what they are struggling with. But no matter who you are… your beauty goes beyond superficial standards.”
In her caption, Ava added: “Pretty is just as pretty girls… and body shaming is just toxic behavior. 💋.”
She also acknowledges that body shaming is not just limited to women.
“PS: I say ‘woman’ because I see this happening disproportionately to young girls and women, but let me be clear: body shaming is toxic no matter who it is about,” she clarifies. “We all deserve to feel safe and at peace in the ship we live in.”
Ava’s famous mom took to the comments section with a supportive message, writing, “Yes to all of this 💋.”
The stunning mother-daughter duo have made several public appearances together in recent months, most recently appearing at the Tiffany & Co. launch celebration Blue Book 2024: Tiffany Céleste in Beverly Hills, California, on April 25.
Ava has also made a name for herself, recently being announced as a global brand ambassador for Vince Camuto’s fragrance portfolio last month. At a recent party thrown by the brand, Ava was accompanied by her 20-year-old brother. Deacon PhillippeAt National Siblings Day.
In In an interview with ET last year, Ryan said this Ava was “undecided” about following in her parents’ footsteps as an actress.
“You never know what will happen in the future,” he added.
In addition to Ava and Deacon, Reese is also mother to 11-year-old son Tennessee James Toth with ex Jim Toth.
