Anna Paquin And Stephen Moyerthe couple best known for their roles on HBO True bloodrecently spoke about their experiences working on the series and its upcoming film, A little lightfor ET’s “Spilling the E-Tea.”
The couple, who have been together for over two decades, recalled a particularly memorable sex scene True blood as well as their joint work on their new project.
Paquin teased her husband by saying, “I pestered you in the audience at our premiere that you would have been in trouble if you hadn’t hired me.” What part of me as Ella impressed you the most?”
Moyer, who directed a little light, praised Paquin’s portrayal of Ella, an alcoholic mother who deals with grief and guilt in the film. “When I read A little light For the first time it was a play and I thought it would make a wonderful script. “It was written by my friend Rebecca Cellard, or Becks as we call her, and when I read that, you were the first person I immediately thought of,” Moyer said. “There are very few people around me who could go down the rabbit hole of complexity that the character Ella had to live in.
Paquin laughed, “And I’m not afraid to have an ugly cry on camera,” and pressed Moyer on what particularly impressed him about her performance. Moyer responded, “The fact that you went to all the places I needed you to go to create this character. I knew you would do this, which is why I cast you.”
Paquin also praised Moyer’s directing style, noting, “You are exceptionally talented. They think in images, storytelling and camera angles and know every single aspect of producing a film or TV show inside and out, and that’s really where it’s at.”
The conversation shifted to their work together True blood, particularly a scene involving Paquin’s character Sookie and Joe Manganiello’s character Alcide early in season seven. Moyer recalled the scene’s complicated technical setup, which required the camera to pan over Manganiello’s muscular back. Paquin added: “A friend of mine once called it like being a pirate; it’s like having five parrots on your shoulder.”
The pair joked about the complexity of the scene, with Moyer remarking, “I had to allow Joe to grab your parts in front of the entire crew.”
“Yes, but I also agreed repeatedly,” Paquin clarified.
Moyer recalled how he shouted instructions to Manganiello: “You have to do it, Joe,” and I gave him permission in front of our entire crew.”
“And then he said, ‘Babe, is that OK?’ and I said, ‘Please, just do it,'” Paquin added humorously.
