Here’s why Pastor Keion Henderson is going viral

On Sunday, May 5th, Pastor Henderson’s latest sermon at Lighthouse Church in Houston, Texas premiered via YouTube. During the sermon, he spoke primarily about changing perspective on one’s challenges and trusting in God’s timing.

The shadow room apparently received an excerpt from Pastor Henderson’s last service. The video showed the pastor on stage during a praise and worship session with his choir.

As he began to sing, the audience could hear violent screams in the background.

“Shh!” Pastor Henderson said before walking over to one of his choir members.

The priest then appeared to point to a person standing near the screaming woman.

“Hey, stop her,” he said, snapping his fingers. “Hush, hush. Silence in the name of Jesus.”

As he moved back to the front of the stage, the priest explained his approach.

“The only voice I want to hear is his,” he said.

TSR users weigh in

Social media users expressed mixed reactions to the priest’s actions in the comments section of The Shade Room.

Instagram user @iamjadanicolle wrote: People don’t go to church like they used to because the pastors want to be celebrities.”

While Instagram user @realitythruyana added: No, she did too much and then interrupted other people’s praise.”

Instagram user @julesjuda wrote: I hate it when spiritual topics are brought into non-spiritual forums. This is a world that most will not understand. Discernment is a part of worship that only those who are frequently in the presence of God can understand. He did nothing wrong and that goes beyond Instagram.”

While Instagram user @asiagolden added: If she had screamed as the tithe and offering basket came by, he would have let her scream as loud as she wanted. 🙄🤦🏾‍♀️”

Instagram user @thehanyoung wrote: “I’ve been a member for over a year now and she does this every Sunday and every week it gets louder. I’m surprised no one has said anything yet.”

While Instagram user @iamcertifyde added: Don’t do that to my pastor‼️ and she does it EVERY SUNDAY!!!!”

Instagram user @hairartbydominique wrote: And one more thing… How did you manage to silence her in the name of Jesus when the Holy Spirit might have been in her? This man was putting on a performance…a show…. Like most of them!”

Tami Roman added: The Holy Spirit cannot be silenced. He felt like something was wrong and shut down.”

The reactions on social media continue

Additionally, there continued to be mixed reactions in the pastor’s comments section on Instagram. In his latest Instagram post, Instagram user @ms.celina_charles wrote: “The service was good! At first I was disappointed until I realized that it is the same spirit that roars every Sunday!”

While Instagram user @melinda.mondays added, “Can I be honest? He had the right intention, but the execution was a bit cold. The lady was extremely loud and some might argue disruptive. It would have been enough to ask an usher to escort her to another room so she could attend Snapping your fingers and telling her to be quiet is something you do to a dog…”

Meanwhile, Instagram users continued to share perspectives and humorous reactions under the pastor’s March 21 post, which promoted a spiritual event called “Cry Out.”

While Instagram user @lucky7s added, “Scream… but don’t cry loudly (apparently) 😂”

Instagram user @brandielovehowell wrote: “Why you do that lady like that, sir, you don’t know what she’s struggling with – that’s why people don’t go to church now, spare her soul and don’t beat her up.”

Shaunie Henderson recently shared what attracted her to the pastor

Pastor Henderson’s wife, Shaunie, has yet to publicly comment on the mixed reactions to her husband’s actions. Back in March, Henderson shared how she knew the pastor was “the right one.”
