Amy Winehouse: Final Photos Resurface Before Biopic

The last known photos of Amy Winehouse made the rounds on social media this week.

And some fans aren’t happy about it.

The controversial images – which were reposted by Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts large and small – were taken during the music icon’s final performance.

Amy Winehouse’s final photos reopen old wounds

The concert took place in Belgrade, Serbia in 2011, just five days before Amy’s tragic death at the age of 27.

Amy bravely battled the eating disorder and substance abuse that would soon take her life.

Unfortunately, she felt compelled to continue her grueling performance schedule at a time when she should have received help.

Amy’s speech was slurred and she forgot the lyrics to several songs at this last concert.

At one point, she responded to the crowd’s ridicule by crying and hugging.

Needless to say, the photos and footage from Amy’s final performance are heartbreaking.

They have resurfaced due to a renewed interest in Amy’s enormous talent and tragically short life.

This interest seems to have been sparked by the upcoming biopic. Back to black.

Perhaps such a project was inevitable. But fans feel Amy deserves a better tribute than this film, which has been derided as derivative and exploitative.

Back to Black: Why is the Amy Winehouse biopic receiving such strong criticism?

The film doesn’t hit U.S. theaters until May 17, but critics already haven’t been kind.

Worse, at least one close confidant of Amy’s has called the film an inaccurate portrayal of her life.

Her boyfriend Tyler James flatly stated that Amy didn’t like the film.

However, he admitted that she would have liked the sympathetic portrayal of Blake Fielder-Civil, to whom she was briefly married.

“Amy would have been happy for Blake [because of his sympathetic portrayal]“But she wouldn’t have liked the film,” James said recently The Times of London.

“You get the sense that Amy remains coherent even when she’s on drugs, but there was so much suffering.”

James added that the film “avoids the unpleasant” and “focuses far too much on Blake.”

Needless to say, it sounds like fans of Amy aren’t thrilled with director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s take on the music icon’s short life.

We will provide further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.
