All-new Maruti Swift Launched: 25,000 More Expensive Than the Older Model

The much awaited Maruti Suzuki Swift is finally here. The next generation Maruti Swift was officially launched in India today. The price of the all-new Swift starts at Rs 6.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.64 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). This is actually Rs 25,000 more expensive than the older generation model. Compared to the previous version, Maruti has made many improvements in terms of features and design. The Swift has been sold in the Indian market since 2005 and is an extremely popular car among buyers. The newly launched version is expected to be no different.

The Maruti Swift is sold in dual-tone LXi, VXi, VXi(O), ZXi, ZXi+ and ZXI+ variants. The LXi variant is priced at Rs 6.49 lakh ex-showroom and this is the only variant that is not available with an AMT gearbox. All other variants above LXi are offered with either a manual or AMT transmission. The top-end ZXi+ Dual Tone variant is priced at Rs 9.64 lakh ex-showroom.

The Swift’s iconic design was inspired by the popular Suzuki Hayabusa superbike. The design of the new Swift is no different. It is actually an evolution of the previous generation model and features slimmer looking headlights with projector lights, boomerang LED daytime running lights and halogen turn signals. The shoulder line of the new Swift wraps around the car and gives it a distinctive look.

As for the side view, the design of the car reminds us of the previous model. Here we see the two-tone machine-cut alloy wheels and the repositioned rear door handles. At the rear, the Swift has clear taillights with C-shaped LED elements.

Inside, the car offers an inviting, modernized interior. The surrounding character line can also be seen in the cabin. The center console is aimed at the driver, making it easier to control while driving. The layered design of the Dahbaord will remind you of other Maruti cars like Baleno and Fronx.

We see the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with connected car features from Maruti Suzuki. The car also features automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger and USB Type-C ports that support fast charging.

The car also features rear air conditioning vents and a dual gauge cluster with a colored MID in the middle. The cabin looks extremely spacious and is equipped with fabric seats and a flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel. Maruti Suzuki has updated the suspension setup of the new Swift. Standard equipment also includes 6 airbags and 3-point seat belts for all passengers.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is now powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 82 bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. The official fuel efficiency figures were also announced. The manual version of Swift has an ARAI certified economy of 24.8 kmpl and the AMT version achieves 25.75 kmpl.

The Swift is offered in nine color options, including three dual-tone options. Maruti has introduced two new color options with the new Swift – Luster Blue and Novel Orange. The body structure consists of 45 percent high-strength steel, of which 20 percent is ultra-high-strength steel.
