Bollywood star Alia Bhatt is all set to break new ground by taking on the lead role in the first female-directed spy action film from Yash Raj Films (YRF). The director’s announcement was made on February 2, 2024, with YRF entrusting the direction to Shiv Rawail, who previously served as an assistant director on big-budget productions Fan And Dhoom 3He made his directorial debut in the hit Netflix series YRF The railway workers. Bhatt will not be alone in this action spectacle. She is joined by Sharvari Wagh, who forms a strong double agent duo.

The YRF spy universe is synonymous with adrenaline-pumping action and this film promises to uphold that tradition. According to a report by Mid-day, producer Aditya Chopra and director Shiv Rawail have carefully planned seven different action set pieces. Bhatt and Wagh not only exchange blows with the enemy, but also with Bobby Deol, who takes on the role of the antagonist.
This project, the sixth part of the YRF spy universe, is planned as a high-budget spectacle. Chopra recognizes the potential to attract a wider audience, particularly women, with the film’s unique perspective. A source close to the production revealed, “While Katrina Kaif’s Zoya and Deepika Padukone’s Rubina are out of the tiger And Pathan Franchises were loved, this is the first female-led project. Therefore, Aditya wants to make it a cool action entertainer that looks at the characters of Alia and Sharvari as vicious killing machines.”
YRF is known for working with various action directors to ensure that every fight sequence feels fresh and compelling. This film will be no exception, with an expert team including Korean stunt coordinator Se Yeong Oh, Franz Spillhaus and Indian action director Sunil Rodrigues. Expect Bhatt to get involved in everything from martial arts to hand-to-hand combat with Deol.
The untitled project marks a significant addition to YRF’s burgeoning spy universe, which has spawned high-octane action films like… One of those tigers (2012), Tiger lives (2017), War (2019), Pathan (2023) and Tigers 3 (2023).
