After Turning 57, Sherri Shepherd Feels Better Than She Has in Years

Sherri Shepherd After celebrating her 57th birthday, she begins the next phase of her life.

“If I tell you, you have no idea about sexy 30-year-olds! Get up at 50 because there is wisdom behind it all. You know, I think it’s the inner confidence, and I think that’s just falling down in life, failing, getting back up and trying again,” Shepherd said exclusively Us weekly while attending the QVC Women’s Summit in Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 24th. “It gives me confidence and… I know what I bring to the table. I know who I am, I know my voice. This would never have happened in my 30s and 40s.”

Shepherd gushed that she’s felt this good “for years” and that she’s incorporated more walking and “real eating” into her routine. She joked: “I have to work out because according to social media if I don’t get my protein and work out every day I’ll die in my 20s.”

Shepherd – whose daytime talk show, Sherriwas recently renewed for a third season – adding that she is “not looking backwards” but is turning her attention forward.

“At this age the question arises: Who can I influence? What group of young women can I raise and teach with me? I have learned many life lessons and have to pass them on,” she said, adding that her perspective coincided with attending the QVC Summit, which launched the brand’s new platform, Age of Possibility, and the empowerment of Women over 50 were celebrated.

In the spirit of strong women, Shepherd reflected on her female role models, noting that she spoke to Joan Rivers before her death in 2014. Rivers told her, “Funny girls are always working,” to which Shepherd remarked, “I’ll be funny for a long time.”

Shepherd’s comments about her new outlook on life came months after she announced her decision to have a breast reduction.

“I’m so happy that I did it. I was a 42DD,” Shepherd said during an episode of Sherri in October 2023. “I thought I was carrying the weight of the world – but in reality it was the weight of my breasts. All joking aside, they were so heavy that I was left slouching the whole time. It started to get really painful. My back hurt a lot.”

Shepherd added that she felt “lighter” than ever after the procedure. “I feel better. I’m not going to say I wish I had done this a while ago because timing is everything,” she said. “God gave them to me, they have served me well, but now “When I get older, I’ll be able to sit upright.”
