After the Price Hike, the Old Maruti Swift Gets Discounts Ahead of a New Model Being Launched Tomorrow

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its all-new Swift. The official market launch of the popular hatchback model is scheduled for May 9, 2024. Last month, we reported that Maruti had increased the price of the current generation Swift. Shortly before the market launch of the new model generation, the manufacturer is now offering a discount on this hatchback.

The current generation Swift gets a discount worth up to Rs 38,000. The discount amount varies depending on the variant. The automatic version of the Swift gets a maximum discount of Rs 38,100 while the manual version of the hatchback gets a discount of Rs 33,100. The CNG version offers an even lower discount amount of Rs 18,100. After the launch of the new generation Swift, we can expect more discount offers from Maruti on Swift as the manufacturer or the dealer would be keen to clear out the old stocks.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki implemented a price hike of Rs 39,000 on the Swift. Shortly before the launch of the new Swift, the manufacturer is offering discounts on the car. Before the price hike, the starting price of the Swift was Rs 5.99 lakh, which increased to Rs 6.24 lakh ex-showroom. The Maruti Suzuki Swift has been available in the Indian market since 2005.

This is an extremely popular car in its segment, catering to the needs of both enthusiasts and family car buyers. The previous version of the Swift is offered with a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 88 bhp and a maximum torque of 113 Nm. The car is available with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT gearbox. The CNG version of the Swift produces 75 hp and 98.5 Nm of torque and is only offered with a manual transmission.

Moving to the 4th generation Swift, the design features an evolution from the previous model and appears slimmer than before. The car is equipped with stylish projector headlights and integrated LED daytime running lights. The redesigned front grille with glossy black contours and mesh design gives it a distinctive look.

The car is already available at dealers and features the look and feel of the lower variants. The design of the hatchback remains the same as the international version, although the model sold in India lacks some features including ADAS. Maruti has made this decision intentionally to keep the price of the car under control.

Maruti Suzuki will offer a completely redesigned cabin that features a layered design similar to the current version of the Baleno and Fronx. A 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment screen will be included. The Swift will also come with a multifunction steering wheel, an analogue instrument cluster with color MID, automatic climate control and more.

Compared to the previous model, the new generation Swift produces less power and torque; However, it is tailored for urban use and better economy. The all-new 1.2-liter 3-cylinder Z-Series engine produces 82 horsepower and a maximum torque of 112 Nm. It is offered with a choice of a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Maruti’s mild hybrid system is also offered for better efficiency. Maruti will launch the new Swift with a CNG fuel option at a later date and is also planning to launch a high-performance hybrid version of the Swift.
