Acura’s 2025 MDX Finally Loses Its Inconsistent Touchpad Infotainment for 2025

Acuras The touchpad infotainment interface was previously described by Jalopnik writers using words like “detest” And “distractingly sensitive” But Acura has finally freed MDX from the oppressive iron shackles of its touchpad controller and replaced it with an intuitive touchscreen setup. This is the biggest news in 2025 Acura MDX Refresh, along with a few new styling tweaks, grille designs, paint colors and a new 31-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo only available on the MDX Type S, although it is standard there.

The MDX is new Touchscreen infotainment system has moved a little closer to the front seats, and although the size remains the same at 12.3 inches, the entire screen is now available, allowing users to minimize the tiles on the right side of the screen and take advantage of the full widescreen format Apple CarPlay or Acura’s native infotainment. This new Google-based system is very intuitive to use and works smoothly. Thankfully, the MDX retains its physical buttons for climate control, heated seats, cooling and massage buttons, although the volume control is still mounted low down next to the push-button switch. Instead of 2024 Acura MDXs Equipped with a console-mounted wrist base and touchpad infotainment controller, the 2025 MDX features an uncovered wireless phone charging pad and a slightly enlarged but still small storage area that looks like the perfect spot for a stack of pretty pens .

Aside from the infotainment upgrade, the MDX doesn’t get any major changes for 2025. Acura has revised its active safety features, now called Enhanced AcuraWatch and standard on all MDX models. In The interior, The stylish new quilted, 16-way power-adjustable Milano leather seats are now optional on additional trim levels and feature a 9-way adjustable massage function. Stereos have also been upgraded across the range: the base system gets two more speakers (11 total), the upgraded system adds three additional speakers (19 total), and the Type S gets the 31-speaker Band & Olufsen system with 12 speakers in the headliner . Acura I wasn’t allowed to test the sound system when previewing the car and referred to a necessary software update.

The MDX lineup receives no changes to its powertrains, so all MDX models come standard with it Acuras The 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine is the only one with 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque Equipment type S, the Acura MDX Type S with the Advance package, features the same turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Both engines send their power through a 10-speed automatic transmission, but the Type S’s transmissions are “sport tuned”.

The 2024 Acura MDX was a great entry-level luxury SUV that was hampered by a clunky infotainment interface. Acura finally fixed the infotainment for 2025, and now we have even less to complain about. While updates are minimal, the new Acura MDX is a great option for families who want style, safety, space, value and entertaining driving dynamics, all enhanced by its new easy-to-use infotainment system.
