What you need to know
- According to rumors, Google is planning to “relaunch” the Pixel tablet and finally launch the long-awaited accessories alongside it.
- The Pixel tablet will reportedly come without a charging speaker dock, which will likely result in a price drop.
- One tipster says the device’s stylus and keyboard will ship separately and could cost around $107 each.
Rumor has it that Google could “relaunch” the Pixel tablet this year, finally giving us the accessories we’ve been (not so) patiently waiting for.
The rumor comes from MysteryLupin on Allegedly, the device’s second debut will come without a charging speaker dock. Lupine adds that consumers may find the Pixel tablet in Hazel and Porcelain color variants.
The other side looks at the accessories as the tipster suggests that Google will finally release its Pixel Keyboard and Pixel Pen. According to rumors, the pieces will cost 100 euros each.
They say there will be “no bundle” for users as the accessories will be sold separately.
Curiously, the alleged release period is in May. Apple’s upcoming event is on May 7th, and if we trust the rumors, Google’s Pixel tablet relaunch will take place on Friday, May 10th, meaning it will be just a few days before I/O 2024 will take place on May 14th.
Of course, take this rumor with a grain of salt for now, as Google has yet to reveal any details about a relaunch or official first-party keyboard and pen accessories for Pixel tablets.
It’s pure coincidence that Apple delayed the iPad launch by three days before Google “relaunched” the Pixel tablet (dockless) along with a stylus and Bluetooth keyboard. Both will be available in Hazel and Porcelain for around €100🍊 https://t.co/7ZDT4DpPcdApril 24, 2024
We would be happy if these rumors were true, especially regarding the accessories, as rumors about them have been circulating since last year. Remember: the Pixel tablet was launched with support for USI 2.0 stylus pens, but Google notably hasn’t provided its own version of the tool. Previous leaks have revealed the existence of a Google-made stylus and keyboard in the Pixel Retail demo app.
Additionally, there was speculation that Google’s Pixel tablet should have been launched earlier but was delayed due to the development of its accessories.
In other news, alleged Pixel Tablet 2 codenames were discovered in February. The discovery of “Clementine” and “Kiyomi” called into question the possibility of a “Pro” model. Maybe the idea of Google re-releasing the original tablet Before I/O 2024 makes sense. That leaves the main event open for the Pixel Tablet 2, which could debut during the event, similar to its predecessor last year.
We’re just two weeks away from knowing for sure.
