AccentCare Names Andy Johnston President of Hospice, Personal Care Services

AccentCare has a new leader at the helm of its hospice and personal care services.

Andy Johnston has joined AccentCare’s leadership team as the new President of Hospice and Personal Care Services, a newly created position within the company.

“Andy is a highly respected executive who has proven operational experience in large, multi-site healthcare organizations,” Laura Tortorella, CEO of AccentCare, said in a press release. “He will play a crucial role in the further development and strengthening of our hospice [personal care services] operations so we can continue to provide exceptional quality and care to the patients and families we serve.”

AccentCare is one of the largest home health and hospice providers in the country. The Dallas-based company also provides personal home care, palliative care and other home care services. Its footprint includes 250 locations in 31 states and the District of Columbia, serving more than 200,000 people each year.

Prior to joining AccentCare, Johnston spent more than 20 years at United Surgical Partners International. He has served in various roles including Chief Operating Officer – East, Chief Development Officer and most recently Chief Administrative Officer.

As president of Hospice and Personal Care Services, Johnston will be responsible for the operations and growth of these businesses.

“The AccentCare team truly puts the care of our patients and their families at the center of everything they do,” Johnston said in an email statement to Home Health Care News. “This level of care and commitment was important to me and a big reason why I decided to join. I’m excited about the direction we’re going and the opportunities for growth.”

In recent years, AccentCare has taken steps to renew its leadership team.

The company promoted Dr. Balu Natarajan was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer in January. His primary focus is clinical care processes and patient experience initiatives.

Earlier this month, the company named Saurabh Gupta as its chief financial officer to lead financial strategies and execution.

Tortorella joined AccentCare as its new CEO last fall as part of the company’s largest recent restructuring. She was previously COO of Steward Health Care.

AccentCare’s former CEO – Steve Rodgers – served in the position for more than a decade.
