For a record-breaking 17th time Reba McEntire is hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16 in Frisco, Texas.
McEntire, 69, has won 16 ACM Awards herself and was named ACM Entertainer of the Year in 1994. In addition to hosting the 59th ACMs, she will also take the stage to perform new music.
This year, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, jellyroll, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen And Lainey Wilson are the nominees for Entertainer of the Year, with Wallen receiving the most ACM nominations of any artist this year with six. These include a nomination for Male Artist of the Year and a nomination for Album of the Year One after the other.
Although Wallen takes home several awards this year, the ceremony comes with legal difficulties for the artist. He was arrested April 7 and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment after throwing a chair from the roof of a Nashville bar.
“I didn’t feel comfortable coming out publicly until I made amends with a few people” he wrote about X when he broke his silence on the issue last week. “I have been in contact with Nashville law enforcement, my family and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior and I take responsibility.”
In addition to Wallen, Jelly Roll has four awards up for grabs, including Single of the Year for his song “Need a Favour.”
