8 Upcoming Mass Market Cars for 2024: From Maruti Swift to Thar Armada

Maruti Suzuki Swift

The fourth-generation Swift will debut on May 9th. Maruti Suzuki has already started booking this model and the entire country is in excitement. The new Swift will feature numerous exterior design updates and a brand new, more modern interior.

One of the main highlights will be the new Z-Series 3-cylinder petrol engine, supported by a 12V battery. This new engine will help the new Swift achieve a mileage of 25.72 kmph. Expect to pay a premium over the price of the outgoing Swift.

Maruti Suzuki is yet to announce the launch date of the new Dzire. However, this new subcompact sedan is expected to launch a few weeks or months after the launch of the new Swift. It will have a similar exterior to the new Swift and a host of new features.

It has been reported that Maruti Suzuki will offer this sedan with an electric sunroof. This makes it the first sedan in the subcompact sedan segment to have this function. It will also feature a new and higher quality interior. The powertrain remains the same as the Swift.

The new Altroz ​​Racer is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.

It is the same engine as the Altroz ​​iTurbo but has been tuned more to produce a maximum of 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. That’s 10 hp and 30 Nm more than the iTurbo. Its main competitor, the Hyundai i20 N Line, offers 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque. No launch dates have been announced yet.

The outgoing Nexon EV facelift offers a range of around 325 km and 465 km in its MR and LR variants respectively. However, it has been reported that the Curvv EV will offer a range of around 500 km on a single full charge.

Tata Curvv

Soon after the official launch of the new Tata Curvv EV, Tata Motors will launch the Curvv diesel in India around August this year. In terms of design and features, it will be exactly the same as the Curvv EV.

However, it will have a diesel engine. This SUV will adopt the proven 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine from the Nexon diesel. This engine delivers a maximum power of 115 HP and 260 Nm of torque. This engine is expected to be paired with a manual transmission.

Citroen Basalt

French automaker Citroen is gearing up to launch the new Basalt coupe SUV in the country. This new model is also based on the platform of the Citroen C3 hatchback. The company is expected to launch it around August this year.

The price could range between 15 and 20 lakh rupees. In terms of competition, it will compete with the Tata Curvv coupe SUV in India. It is powered by the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.

This is the same engine that powers the Citroen C3 Aircross. It is expected to produce a maximum power of 110 HP and a maximum torque of 205 Nm. It is offered with both a manual and torque converter automatic transmission.

Mahindra Thar five-door

Around the same time in August, Mahindra will most likely launch the new Thar five-door. The new Thar five-door will come with some exterior updates and some interior highlights too. It will get a power sunroof, roof-mounted speakers, ADAS, a 360-degree camera and a lot more.

For the base variant of this SUV, expect to pay around Rs 18 lakh. The new Thar five-door is expected to come with Mahindra Scorpio-N powertrain options. These include 2.0 liter turbo petrol and 2.2 liter diesel engines.

Honda Amaze

According to reports, the new Honda Amaze will be launched in India during the festive season. The company will update the exterior design to match the new City and Elevate models.

According to reports, Honda will offer the new Amaze only with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. This is the same engine as the current model. This engine produces 90 hp and 110 Nm of torque. It comes with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic transmission.
