Japanese automobile giant Toyota is gearing up to launch a range of new cars in India. These offerings include updated iterations of the existing models as well as some new models. Fortuner PHEV Mild Hybrid
The first car on Toyota’s launch list for India is the Toyota Fortuner PHEV. This new mild hybrid version of the Fortuner was recently launched in South Africa. Most likely, this model will be launched in India soon.
This variant of the Toyota Fortuner comes with the same 2.8 liter turbo diesel engine. However, it now receives an additional 48 V mild hybrid system. This engine produces 201 hp and 500 Nm of maximum torque. Due to the new mild hybrid system, the fuel efficiency of the Fortuner will change from 12.66 km/h to 13.15 km/h.
Hilux PHEV Mild Hybrid
Apart from the Fortuner PHEV, the company plans to introduce the Hilux mild hybrid. The hybrid version of the Hilux also gets the same powertrain. The 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine will feature the same 48V mild hybrid technology.
The maximum power is 201 hp and the torque is 500 Nm. The charged 48V lithium-ion battery produces 16 hp of power and 65 Nm of torque. This energy is passed on to the engine via the engine generator. This will help improve the acceleration of this pickup.
Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-seater

Toyota is also gearing up to launch the new seven-seater Urban Cruiser Hyryder in India. This model is based on the seven-seater version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Once launched, this new SUV will compete with the Mahindra XUV700.
It will also compete against the Tata Safari and the Hyundai Alcazar. The company most likely won’t change anything under the hood of this SUV. It has the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a strong hybrid drive and the same 1.5-liter mild hybrid drive. This model is expected to launch in India in 2025.
Urban Electric SUV (Maruti eVX-based EV)
Toyota’s first fully electric SUV for the Indian market will be based on the Maruti Suzuki eVX. The company aims to launch this SUV by October 2025. It will use the same 27PL skateboard platform as the eVX.
This is a special electric vehicle architecture that is manufactured locally at Suzuki’s factory in Gujarat. The Toyota Urban SUV is offered with two battery pack options. The first will be a larger 60 kWh device that will offer a range of around 550 kilometers.
On the other hand, there will also be an entry-level variant with a smaller 48 kWh battery. This variant should offer a range of around 400 kilometers. In terms of price, the price could easily be higher than the Maruti Suzuki eVX. According to the reports, the eVX could start at Rs 22 lakh.
