3 SUVs That Have Sold More Than 10 Lakh Each

India’s automotive landscape has witnessed remarkable growth, making it the third largest automobile market in the world. The Indian market has overtaken Japan to take third place. The USA and China take first and second place, respectively. Among various vehicle types, SUVs have emerged as a driving force, accounting for over 50% of car sales in the country. However, among the many SUV models available, only three have reached the impressive milestone of over 1 million units sold.

Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza, Hyundai’s Creta and Mahindra’s Scorpio are the only SUVs in India to achieve this notable sales milestone. Now let’s take a closer look at the details of these popular vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza

Originally launched in 2016, Maruti updated the Brezza in 2022. Priced between Rs 8.34 lakh and Rs 14.14 lakh (ex-showroom), the Brezza offers a balanced package of style, comfort, performance and affordability.

The Brezza is now powered by the 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine that produces 103 PS and 137 Nm of torque. Consumers can opt for either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, for thrifty buyers, the Brezza is also available with a CNG powertrain.

Hyundai Creta

Next, we have the Hyundai Creta, which was launched in the Indian market in 2015. Hyundai is currently selling a facelifted version of the second-generation Creta in India. The Hyundai Creta is available in two variants: the standard version and the sporty N Line. Prices for the regular Creta start at Rs 11 lakh and go up to Rs 20.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

On the other hand, the sportier Creta N Line is priced between Rs 16.82 and Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai offers the Creta SUV with three different options including two petrol and one diesel engines. In addition to these engines, several transmission options are also offered, including a manual transmission, a DCT and an iMT. Additionally, Hyundai is also working on the EV version of the Creta, which could be launched soon.

Mahindra Scorpion

Last but not least, the Mahindra Scorpio, which was launched in 2022. Since its launch, the Scorpio has enjoyed great popularity in the Indian market. Mahindra sells the Scorpio in two avatars: the original Scorpio sold as the Scorpio Classic and a very luxurious and modern version sold as the Scorpio N.

The price of the Scorpio Classic starts at Rs 13.59 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.35 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, Scorpio N prices start from Rs 13.60 lakh and go up to Rs 13.60 lakh. 24.54 Lakhs for the top-end variant. The SUV is equipped with powerful engines, including a petrol variant for the Scorpio-N. Thanks to advanced transmission options, the Scorpio delivers robust performance in a variety of terrain, making it a favorite among adventure enthusiasts.

The Mahindra Scorpio N is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 173 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It is also offered in a petrol version powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 203bhp and 380Nm of torque. These engine options can be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The Scorpio Classic is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine with 132 hp and 300 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This is the same engine as the Scorpio N, but with a less powerful tune.
