2024 Peugeot 408 Launched in Malaysia – 218PS/300Nm 1.6-litre Turbo, Three Variants; from RM146k OTR – Paultan.org

After its first preview earlier this month, the 2024 Peugeot 408 has now made its official launch in Malaysia and is available in three variants: Allure, Premium and GT RM146,055, RM166,055 And RM196,055 Traveling without insurance and assembled locally at the Stellantis factory in Gurun, Kedah (CKD).

All three variants are powered by the manufacturer’s PureTech 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine that produces 218 PS of power at 5,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Drive is transmitted to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Based on parent company Stellantis’ EMP2 platform, the Fastback 408 is 4,687 mm long, 1,859 mm wide and 1,487 mm high, has a wheelbase of 2,787 mm and a ground clearance of 189 mm. The luggage volume is 536 liters with the rear seats up and expands to 1,583 liters in the GT variant or up to 1,611 liters in the Allure and Premium variants with the seats folded down.

The 408’s exterior features include alloy wheels ranging from 18 inches in 225/55 for the Allure and Premium variants to 20 inches in 245/40 for the top GT variant. The rims are painted in Granite Gray on the Allure, in two-tone Granite Black on the Premium and in Monolithe Black on the GT. The Allure and Premium variants come with a spare tire while the GT gets a tire repair kit.

The Allure and Premium variants get a chrome front grille, while the GT grille is in body color. For lighting, the top GT has automatic matrix LED headlights and 3D LED taillights with a “claw effect”, while the Allure and Premium variants have full LED headlights and taillights.

In the interior, the upholstery in the Allure starts with vinyl, then switches to leather in the Premium version and the GT gets nappa leather. All three have electrical adjustment of the driver’s seat, while the top GT variant also offers a memory and massage function. The front passenger in the Allure receives manual adjustment, and in the Premium and GT variants an electric adjustment.

Instrumentation for all three is the 10-inch i-Cockpit digital display, while the GT gets a 3D quartz version of the i-Cockpit unit. Infotainment for all three is via a 10-inch i-Cockpit HD color touchscreen unit, with the GT having configurable i-Toggle controls.

The sound on the 408 is provided by a six-speaker system for the Allure and Premium variants, while the top GT variant gets a Focal Premium system with ten speakers and all three have a wireless phone charger. The GT also gets a cabin air purification system.

The safety package for the 408 series includes AEB, ESP with hill start assist, traffic sign recognition, high beam assistant and a tire pressure monitoring system as well as rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, active pedestrian impact protection on the bonnet and six airbags.

Additionally, the Premium variant comes with front parking sensors, advanced traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, advanced AEB, forward collision warning, blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.

A total of four colors are offered for the three variants of the Peugeot 408 2024; Obsession Blue, Perla Nera Black, Okenite White and Artense Grey. The Allure variant gets three of the four except Obession Blue, while the Premium gets all four exterior colors; The GT gets Obsession Blue in its color palette and forgo Artense Grey.

The 2024 Peugeot 408 comes with a seven-year/200,000 km warranty, including three years of manufacturer’s warranty and four years of extended warranty.
