Six months after the local debut of the facelifted GLE coupe, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has announced the launch of the updated GLE, appearing here in the same GLE 450 AMG Line livery as the pre-facelift. The locally assembled SUV is priced at RM528,888 Traveling without insurance, including 10% sales tax.

Like the coupe, this model’s exterior revisions are minor, led by a new front bumper and revised multi-beam LED headlights with a new daytime running light signature. The AMG Line exterior includes a diamond grille with a Mercedes-Benz pattern in chrome, an AMG front apron with chrome trim and AMG side sill panels.

There is also a new AMG rear apron with an insert in a diffuser look as well as 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a multi-spoke design, illuminated running boards in an aluminum look with rubber studs and a panoramic sliding roof. The GLE is also equipped with an Airmatic air suspension system with the ADS+ adaptive damping system.

Inside, the interior undergoes some revisions, but otherwise the overall appearance of the interior – which is presented in an AMG Line trim – remains unchanged. New parts include the air vent surrounds, which now feature chrome accents instead of black accents, and a Nappa leather-wrapped sports steering wheel with touch sensors on the horizontal spokes.

The specification also includes Artico synthetic leather, which enhances the upholstery and the lines of the dashboard and door belts, a black fabric headliner, open-pore oak wood trim in anthracite, AMG floor mats and wireless charging.

The digital screens remain two 12.3-inch devices, but the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) has been upgraded to the automaker’s second-generation system, adding improved voice recognition and support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Audio duties are handled by a Burmester surround sound system.

As before, power is provided by an M256 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, which now delivers 381 hp (375 hp or 280 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 500 Nm of torque from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm. Equipped with a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, the facelifted GLE 450 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, a fraction faster than its predecessor before the facelift. The maximum speed is 250 km/h.

Like the GLE Coupé, the GLE 450 also receives a 48-volt mild hybrid system that has an integrated second-generation starter generator (ISG). The ISG, which enables functions such as coasting and comfortable engine start-stop, gives the vehicle an additional 23 hp (20 hp or 15 kW) and 200 Nm.

The driver assistance and safety equipment includes a Driving Assistance Package Plus, the active distance assistant Distronic, windowbags/rear sidebags/knee airbag and Pre-Safe Impulse Side as well as a parking package with 360° camera and the active parking assistant Parktronic.
