Man steals laptops from Medical College Hostel as ‘revenge’ on ex-girlfriend

Chennai: Chennai police have arrested a 25-year-old man for stealing laptops from students in medical university hostels to take revenge on his ex-girlfriend in Chennai.

According to a report on The Indian Express, H1 Washermanpet police received a complaint from Ruthresh, a second-year student at Stanley Medical College Hospital, who disappeared from his room on April 8.

Based on the complaint, the police combed CCTV images of the hostel. While analyzing the images, police found a fool who got out of the hostel in a car with a bag.

Police located the car and arrested the suspect from Semmencherry on Saturday.

During interrogation, the police found out that the accused identified as Tamil Selvan stole 31 laptops and sold them on black markets.

They also found that Tamil Selvan had fake ID cards from colleges and had been involved in theft in other parts of the country including Delhi and Kerala. The police detained him and sent him to 15 days of justice.

S Yamuna, Washermanpet police bureau inspector said, Tamil Selvan told us that he started selling laptops from medical college hostels after his breakup with his girlfriend.

However, the inspector said that his statement could not be fully trusted because Tamil Selvan had committed theft in anticipation of cases of crimes committed at a young age. He also lost his parents at a young age.
