Jaishankar comment on 2 + 2 draws praise from Sena’s Priyanka Chaturvedi: ‘Superb’ | Latest News India

2 + 2 dialogue: India and the US held the crucial ministerial talks in the midst of the Ukraine war.

Foreign Minister Shar Jaishankar’s sharp remarks on India’s purchase of oil from Russia received an unexpected thumbs-up from opposition leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Tuesday. While the world is taking measures to punish Moscow, as the Ukraine war will end in seven weeks, Jaishankar – after the 2 + 2 ministerial talks in Washington claimed – that each country “must secure its energy needs”.

“If you look at (India’s) energy purchases from Russia, I would suggest that you should pay attention to Europe. We are buying some energy needed for our energy security. But I suspect, when I look at figures, our purchases for the moon would be less than what Europe does on an afternoon, “he sketched.

“We are against the conflict, we are in favor of dialogue and diplomacy, we are in favor of an urgent end to violence and we are ready to contribute in any way we can,” Jaishankar continued.

Shiv Sena’s Chaturvedi shared the video of his remarks on Tuesday: “Superb from EAM!” with an emoji of applause.

Several countries, including the United States, have imposed multiple sanctions on the Kremlin over waging war against Ukraine despite the West’s call for peace.

However, the White House has previously indicated that India’s energy imports from Russia are only 1-2 percent of total imports.

“Energy imports are not banned and they do not violate our sanctions. We certainly recognize that each country will take a step in their interest … (on India’s plans to import Russian oil) I will let Prime Minister Modi and Indians speak on that. It is only 1-2 percent at this point … they export 10 percent from the United States. It’s not a violation of all sanctions … “White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at the latest media briefing .

While India did not vote against Russia at the United Nations, it has repeatedly called for an end to the violence in which Moscow was accused of mass murder and even rape.

During a virtual meeting with US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke on Monday about the massacre of Bucha.
