Babar Azam’s 11th T20 ton in the PSL 2024 match sparked talks about his comparisons with Virat Kohli. The former Pakistan captain, who is one of the top scorers in T20 cricket, scored an unbeaten 111 in Peshawar’s last game against Islamabad United.

Babar Azam now has two centuries in the PSL and 30 over 50, the most of any batter in the league. He has now scored 3265 runs in 84 PSL games. His recent batting exploits earned him a Morris Garages car from PSL owner Javed Afridi.

Meanwhile, a random Babar fan on Twitter shared a video of Babar and Kohli playing in a similar setting, indicating that both batters are now on the ‘same page’. Babar played the shot in the 20th over of Peshawar’s innings.

He played a throw from Faheem Ashraf between the gully and the point for a boundary, very similar to Virat Kohli’s shot in the 2023 Asia Cup match against Pakistan. Kohli and KL Rahul both scored centuries in this match as India defeated Pakistan.

“She came for the first time (talking about his mother). Very happy. She always watches from home. Good luck to me that she came and I scored a hundred points. This is my best. Saim and I realized that the pitch was good, so we were looking for 200. But then we lost three wickets. Paul has a slight hamstring problem and was therefore not required to be on the field. Azam came out so I just tried Yaqoob. All credit to him, he didn’t panic, he believed in his bowling. We weren’t quite up to speed in the first two games. I hope I can carry on the momentum now.” Babar said after leading his team to victory.

Babar Azam joined Peshawar Zalmi as captain last season. He led them to the playoffs last season and hopes to reach the finals this year.

As for the rivalry between the two teams in the PSL, Peshawar Zalmi has won 12 games in 23 games while Islamabad United has won 10 games.
