The Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 to Z8 Conversion Makes Luxury Affordable [Video]

The base variant of Mahindra’s popular SUV, the Scorpio N, is priced at Rs. 13.60 lakh ex-showroom. Purchasing this variant and equipping it with aftermarket modifications not only saves money but also gives you the opportunity to add an exclusive touch to your car. Today we will look at one such modification of a Mahindra Scorpio N, where the base variant of the Z2 is heavily modified and equipped with all the essentials. The project is carried out and presented by VIG Auto Accessories on YouTube.

Now let’s start with the changes made to the car. Genuine 18-inch Mahindra alloy wheels have been added to the side profile, adding character to the vehicle. Other cosmetic changes include silver trim for the door guards, chrome for the waistline, chrome for the C-pillar, chrome rain visors and roof rails. The car’s ORVMs have also been updated to those with electric folding functionality. The real Mahindra footprints also add to the practicality.

The SUV’s front bumper has undergone several functional changes. This includes converting the headlights from halogen to LED and the original Mahindra fog lights with daytime running lights. Several chrome elements have been added to the grille to increase the premium character.

After delving into the exterior, the host talks about the most significant update, which is the interior of the car. Similar to the top Z8 variant of the Scorpio N, the entire interior of this Z2 trim has been covered in leather. Parts such as door pads and dashboard are wrapped in soft-touch leather. Door armrests were also installed. A gloss black interior styling kit has also been added to complement the premium leather. The door handles have been replaced with silver from black in the base variant.

To increase the visual appeal of the cabin, active ambient lighting was also added. The moderator particularly highlights the shell-look seat covers that were installed in this SUV. Another significant update is the steering wheel. The SUV now features a beefy, leather-wrapped, flat-bottomed steering wheel with glossy black elements. The horn padding is also made of brown leather. To increase functionality, multimedia controls and cruise control are also attached to the steering.

The moderator doesn’t mention anything about performance modifications to the SUV. So you can assume that nothing has been changed mechanically. Such conversions look good, but it is always advisable to have them carried out by a trusted workshop as the quality of work and materials used can have a big impact on the lifespan of your car. Please note that many features such as a sunroof, digital instrument cluster and ADAS cannot be added via subsequent modifications.

The Z2 variant of the Mahindra Scorpio is offered with two engine options: a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel with 130 PS and 300 Nm and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol with 200 PS and 370 Nm . Both engines are offered with 6-speed manual transmissions and drive the rear wheels of the SUV. Prices start from 16.73 lakh, on-road in Delhi. And for that much money you get an SUV that’s the size of a Toyota Fortuner, with 7 seats and a sturdy build.
