Axar Patel’s spectacular catch ends the game against Barry McCarthy
After India’s fast bowlers had already made significant breakthroughs with the new ball, Rohit Sharma decided to introduce spin into the attack in the 12th over. Axar left no time to make an impression and needed just two tosses to make an impression. He lobbed the ball to McCarthy who attempted to hit it on the leg side to open his account. However, McCarthy’s delivery ended up with just a top edge. The ball flew to the right of the non-bat where Axar, showing remarkable agility, stretched out in a full pike to secure the catch with both hands and effectively take McCarthy out of the game without the latter putting a run on the scoreboard.

Dominant bowling performance by India against Ireland
Earlier, Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field. Left-handed pacer Arshdeep put in an impressive performance, taking the wickets of both Irish openers in the third over. Ireland struggled to find their footing and could only manage 26/2 in the powerplay. Hardik then went on the attack, striking immediately and, in partnership with Bumrah, reduced Ireland to a precarious 36/4. Pandya continued his fine form, finishing his four overs with impressive figures of 3/27.
Gareth Delany offered some resistance with a quick 26 runs from 14 balls and hit several powerful shots that added crucial runs to Ireland’s total. However, the Irish batting line-up could not withstand the relentless pressure from the Indian bowlers and was eventually dismissed for 96 runs in just 16 overs.
