‘Severance’ Says ‘Welcome Back’ in New Season 2 Footage: Watch

In the words of severance pay‘s Seth Milchick, “Welcome back. It’s been a minute.”

That is indeed it, Mr. Milchick.

In a new preview on Apple TV+ released on Monday, severance pay Fans get a little more insight into what’s to come in Season 2. After more than two years of waiting for new episodes, viewers reunite with Adam ScottMark Scout is greeted by none other than a balloon-wielding Milchick (Tramell Tillman) – a moment that also serves as a welcome to the audience. In a teaser image also released, Mark can be seen carrying a bunch of similar blue balloons, some of which feature his face.

In another clip from the footage, Mark vacillates between his “innie” and “outie” self while lying on the conference table where Helly woke up in season one before running down a hallway. The moment begs the question: Are the “separated” malfunctioning?

In a third clip from the Apple TV+ video, Mark shouts “Wait!” as the elevator doors close.

The teaser is the latest update since January, when Scott shared a first look at the highly anticipated upcoming season of the Apple TV+ drama on Instagram. In the photo, Scott can be seen running through the halls of Lumon Industries. The Parks and Recreation The 50-year-old alumnus tagged Apple TV and director Ben Stiller in the post and also showed off his set chair, which was labeled with his character’s name.

“Great to be back in the office,” Scott captioned the dramatic post.

At that point, about 15 months had already passed since the streaming platform first announced that Season 2 was in the works in October 2022. Around the same time, Scott used his social media pages again to announce a return to the microdata refinery division.

In this photo, Scott is seen with his eyes closed, apparently filming a scene in which the transformation from an “outie” to an “innie” takes place in the elevator at Lumon, where the series is set.

“Severance Season 2 has begun filming…” the actor wrote in a post on October 31, 2022. Shortly thereafter, Puck News reported that the new season was delayed by script issues and bloated budgets, among other things. From there, the problems only got worse, as the Writers Guild of America went on strike, followed shortly thereafter by the 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike.

severance pay premiered in February 2022 and quickly took the world by storm, receiving 14 2022 Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Best Writing for a Drama Series, as well as a host of nominations for the series’ stars, including Scott, Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken and John Turturro.

The series follows a group of employees who spend their days crunching numbers in a bare-bones office at the fictional company Lumon Industries. The twist? The workers have been surgically “separated” from their outside lives, so that when they clock in, they’re supposed to focus only on work. But what happens when an “innie” – a term referring to the separated personality who works in the office – decides they want out? This is where the dramatic (and sometimes nauseating) action of the series takes place.

At the end of season one, viewers saw Mark’s outie – who we learned earlier in the season had lost his wife in a car accident – learn that his wife, played by Dichen Lachman, is not only alive, but also works for Lumon. The discovery becomes possible after Dylan (Zach Cherry) sneaks through the building and manages to activate the “overtime emergency solution” that allows the Innies to experience the outside world.

The show’s other main characters, Helly (Britt Lower) and Irving (John Turturro), are also activated and find themselves in strange situations when they see the outside world for the first time. In the case of Helly – who spent the entire first season insisting on being allowed to leave Lumon and even attempted suicide at one point to leave Lumon – viewers learn that she is none other than Helena Egan, the daughter of Lumon CEO Jame Egan. Outside, Helly learns that her outie has undergone the “separation procedure” to prove the safety and effectiveness of the procedure, which has been a topic of discussion among the outies’ friends and family all season long.

Irving – whose innie sparked an office romance with Burt (Walken) – finds himself in the real world painting the same dark and intimidating hallway over and over again. But viewers don’t realize that the hallway is a bad sign until they see Lachman’s character, Ms. Casey, reprimanded and sent down the ominous corridor inside the Lumon building.

“This is a world we are just beginning to explore,” says series creator Dan Erickson said ET in 2022 about the lives of the Outies and the darker side of Lumon. “So it’s really exciting and humbling that we get to keep it going for another whole season.”

In April, the executive producer and returning director commented on the delays in a statement To TV management, He said: “We have the same very slow schedule as always. We have the same scheduled air date as always,” he said, assuring fans that “we are all just working to make the show the best it can be.”

Next month, Cherry spoke with ET about the upcoming season and revealed that although he couldn’t say much about directing the second season, he was happy with the scripts he had received.

“My reaction was the same as when I saw the first script of the first season, which was, ‘This is good!'” said the 37-year-old actor.

It is unclear in which direction severance pay Season 2 launches, it is almost certain that the series will be far bigger than its predecessor. In October 2022, Apple TV+ excitedly announced that several heavyweights would be joining the show for the new season, including game of Thrones Graduate Gwendoline Christie, Arrested developmentAlia Shawkat and Small beautiful things“Meritt Wever.

“We have Alia Shawkat and Gwendoline Christie and Bob Balaban and a lot of great people,” he said, referring to the eight new actors for season 2. He also added that they are “just incredible people and play really interesting roles. And they just bring so much to the table, it’s great.”

The new additions are rounded out by Christopher Guest, Bob Balaban, Beauty and the Beast Voice Actor: Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante (Wonderful things), Lord of the rings Actors John Noble and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of the Fire Saga).

In the meantime John Turturro confirmed to ET in January that his co-star Christopher Walken – who plays love interest Burt Goodman – “is still there.”

In February, Arquette, the cryptically teased that fans should be “very afraid” of the new episodes – admitted to ET that the creators of the series “felt a certain pressure when they started the second season.” At the time, she said that they “did not want to allow [the fans] down.”

It is currently unclear when Season 2 will premiere on Apple TV+.
