RR vs KKR: “Rajasthan Royals Got Into the Playoffs, I Don’t Know How…” – Brian Lara’s Explosive Remark

Legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara shared his thoughts on Rajasthan Royals (RR)’s recent poor performance in the ongoing IPL 2024, which has cast a shadow over their playoff campaign.

Despite becoming the second team after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to secure a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have recently suffered significant setbacks in the tournament.

The Sanju Samson-led RR’s last defeat in the ongoing IPL season came at the hands of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), who beat them by five wickets at the Baraspara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on May 15.

After the match, Lara highlighted the challenge RR faces in getting back into form. The legendary West Indies batsman pointed out that the Royals appeared to have lost their momentum at a crucial moment in the tournament.

RR’s fourth consecutive defeat highlights a worrying trend that could hamper their quest for a top-two finish in the IPL 2024 points table. Lara expressed concerns about RR’s ability to recover from its current slump.

He noted that once a team falls into a pattern of such poor performance, it becomes very difficult to break the curse and return to winning ways. As RR heads into the IPL 2024 playoffs, Lara is unsure if they can overcome this downturn and revive their campaign in time to make it to the finals.

Brian Lara said on Star Sports: “There are not enough runs on the board and when you get into that slump or decline it becomes really difficult. RR shows that it’s going to be really difficult to get out of this decline. “They’re in the playoffs and they don’t know how to advance.”

Lara said the RR needs to win their final league match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) convincingly on May 19 to secure a place in the top two in the standings. With Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) also in the race and potentially finishing with 16 points if they win their remaining two games, there is a possibility that SRH could overtake RR and join KKR at the top.

The former cricketer-turned-commentator believes that the importance of RR reflecting on what led to their sudden collapse in the ongoing IPL 2024 is further highlighted as he pointed out some factors behind their comeback and success in the Playoffs will be crucial.

He added, “They have to win the next game convincingly and hope SRH don’t win the next two games to win one or two. They want to qualify as league leaders. It’s very hard to explain, they are a very good site. You have to think about what happened in the first half and what is happening now.”

However, the West Indies star is confident that RR will get back to winning ways ahead of the IPL 2024 playoffs as they have just lost their momentum in the tournament. Lara said goodbye with the words: “You have to pull yourself together. They’re still a force to be reckoned with when they’re at their best. RR is currently losing momentum. Hopefully they pick up on it.”
